This letter went out from UYSA regarding updates on tryout and registration information and dates. Read More at uysa.org To help you plan for and navigate the tryout and registration process this year, please see the below timeline and information. *Please Note- these are dates for Regions 1-5 only* UYSA Approved Tryout and Registration Dates for the Upcoming Seasonal Year are Below. June 1st – Registration opens for players who are looking to RE-Register with their current club for the 2020-2021 seasonal year. This means that a Club/Team can make formal offers to players who were members of their club for the 2019-2020 seasonal year without that player having to attend a tryout – and if the player accepts the offer he or she can register online with that club/team. June 8th - Try-outs open for the U9- U12 age groups and registration opens for all players. This is the date that clubs can start holding formal tryouts for the U9-U12 age groups. On this date Clubs/Teams can also make formal offers to any player at any age group, regardless of who they were registered with in the 2019-2020 seasonal year – and if the player accepts the offer he or she can register online with that club/team. June 15th - Try-outs open for U13- U19 age groups. This is the date that clubs can start holding formal tryouts for the U13-U19 age groups. July 10th - Deadline for teams to be applied to the Fall 2020 State Competition League. Summary: The main difference between this year and previous years is that a player does not have to attend a tryout to be given a formal offer and register with a team. However, the player still has the option to wait and tryout for any team when formal tryouts open for their age group.

UYSA is excited to announce that pursuant to Governor Herbert’s announcement that the State has moved into the yellow phase starting Saturday May 16th, after receiving approval from the Utah Health Department, UYSA has released its Yellow Phase Return to Play Guidelines that allow for full contact trainings, scrimmages and games for Utah Youth Soccer players. While this is exciting news for most, please note that this change does not apply to the entire state as Grand, Summit, and Wasatch counties along with Salt Lake City and West Valley City are still under the orange phase from local authorities and will need to abide by the restrictions in their areas. Those cities/counties still under the orange phase must continue to operate under our orange guidelines (attached), no exceptions. The UYSA leadership team had a conference call with the Chief Deputy from the Utah Health Department and received approval on the attached Yellow Phase Guidelines for a safe return to the next phase of soccer. These guidelines still include restrictions on gatherings of players to and from practice where they must be wearing masks and prohibit spectators from being near or on the training fields. Additionally, each Organizational Member must assign a COVID-19 Safety Officer who will ensure that policy is communicated club-wide. Please view the attachment for full list of guidelines. “Utah Youth Soccer Association is grateful for the opportunity to work closely with both the Utah Health Department and our medical partner TOSH Sports Medicine to ensure we take all necessary steps and precautions as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic as the governing body of soccer in our State. We are excited to see our players back on the field as we transition back to a new normal. While there is still a lot more work ahead of us and more decisions to be made, we are happy to see our Organizational Members and Clubs taking the necessary steps and following the restrictions we’ve set in place as they’ve returned to the field for trainings,” says Utah Youth Soccer Association, CEO, Bryan Attridge. In lieu of the Spring season that was cancelled, Utah Youth Soccer will be excited to offer a Sum

Utah Youth Soccer got some exciting news on Wednesday evening! Member organizations & independent teams are permitted to offer individual, non-contact training sessions at the team level for groups of 20 individual or less, including coaches, adult assistants, safety coordinator, and players. Please visit our website at utahyouthsoccer.net to see the guidelines put in place to ensure a safe return of trainings. Although we are excited to see many of our clubs, teams and players return to the pitch, rules and guidelines can be different for each county, and so it is important to continue to follow restrictions in your area. Utah Youth Soccer is continuing to work with state and local governments as well as the Utah Health Department to ease soccer back safely. As always thank you for your patience and understanding through these difficult times, we are excited to celebrate small victories with you and look forward to a return to the field! #TheBeaUTAHfulGame

Orange Does NOT Mean a Return of Youth Soccer Utah soccer family, Like you, we were excited to hear that the State is moving from red to orange today in our fight against the Coronavirus. When we saw the number of people allowed at a social interaction had increased to 20, we immediately drafted guidelines we would expect teams to follow to begin practicing. Unfortunately, under orange, NO close-contact or team sports are allowed. We have reclarification that this exclusion includes practices. In response, UYSA's lobbyists have been and continue to work with the Covid-19 task force to create a scenario where our teams can practice safely, but we have not yet been given permission. Meanwhile, here at UYSA, we have received numerous reports of team practices, even before the expansion to groups of 20. We understand that many are trying to follow social distancing and just want to give these players an opportunity to play and socialize. However, it is UYSA's official position that all of our clubs, teams and players need to follow the Governor's and local health authority's guidelines. Until UYSA is given permission by the task force, we need everyone to comply. The last thing we need is a key member of the task force seeing teams practicing while the member knows permission has not been given. We are hopeful that we will be given permission to practice soon (we have targeted May 15th.) We will let you know AS SOON AS WE KNOW. Until then, have the players continue to practice on their own and stay safe. We appreciate everyone's support and understanding as we navigate the most current updates. Yours in soccer, Utah Youth Soccer Association

Our next “Of The Year Award” recipients to be recognized are the Mathew Conrad Scholarship recipients. Matthew Conrad started out playing for the Hotspurs, America and Sparta soccer clubs. Matthew also was a goalie for West Jordan High School and Salt Lake Community College. In December of 2011 Bob and Marlene established the Matthew Conrad Scholarship Donation, in memory of their late son Matthew. Each winter season UYSA identifies a soccer club or team that would greatly benefit from this donation and act of generosity. The money that the Conrad’s would have spent on Matt for Christmas is used to help fund the donation. UYSA would like to thank the Conrad’s for their wonderful kindness, generosity, and devotion to Utah Youth Soccer. This year the Mathew Conrad Scholarship is awarded to: TC United 2009 Boys Coached by Cody Valdez. TC United B09 is a team of 24 great young men who have worked hard over the years to expand their knowledge of the game while becoming great friends with each other on and off the field. In just over three years, they have lost one of their coaches (and parent) to an unexpected death, lost an additional team parent to cancer and have had a house fire that destroyed most of one of the player's soccer equipment. Through all of this, the players and families have always been there for each other and their friendships have been strengthened. We would like to again thank the Conrad’s for their generosity and decision to continue Matthew’s Legacy through this scholarship donation each year. #TheBeaUTAHfulGame
