Happy New Year!! Here’s to a 2019 filled with music, exploration, growth and inspiration.
Our favorite time of the semester. Celebrating music and the work of our students in Music 189r @harvard @harvard_arts
The last Blodgett of 2018 includes the wonderful pianist Orion Weiss!
Our last stop on this tour was Bad Tölz, Germany. What an honor to play the inaugural concert of this wonderful new series! We even met the mayor!! #quartettissimo #badtolz
Happy Thanksgiving from Austria!! @festspielhaus.at We’ll have to wait for leftovers!
Day two is done. Yesterday and today we put down Dvorak Viola Quintet w/ Kim Kashkashian and Kurtág’s Officium breve. One more day to go. Tomorrow we’ll tackle a work that is deeply embedded in the quartet’s history: Kurtág’s Six Moments Musicaux. First encountered in 2005, we learned it off of photocopies of the manuscript because the ink was barely dry. We gave it its North American premiere in 2006 at Carnegie and have continued to live with it for the last 13 years. It means something very personal to us to finally put it down on record. Daunting but our hearts are filled! #ECM #Kurtag
Post @wigmore_hall concert. On to Zürich!!
Tonight we play a house concert to benefit @awardsforyoungmusicians in the UK. They do incredible work and we are thrilled to be part of their cause!
Arrived in London this morning to kick off a European tour. First on the agenda: today we visit @bbcradio3 @bbcintune for a live broadcast.
Congratulations on finishing your opera Mr. Kurtág. We hope to do your music at least a shred of justice in two weeks @ecm_records
First Monday @necmusic
@theemelintheatre Mamaroneck, NY this afternoon!
@gordoncollege tonight. Dan forgot black socks.
A nice shot from last Sunday’s Music for Food concert which captures our bowmaker Benoit Rolland in the audience. It’s always a completely engaging experience to play with Kim Kashkashian and we are looking forward to recording with her next month for ECM!
