DO YOU NEED AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT? 💍🤔💕 ⠀ I love engagement shoots and I’ll always encourage my couples to have one! This is a great opportunity to get photographs before your big day, just the two of you in a location of your choice. The shoot is always very relaxed, lasts around an hour, and I always make sure you have lots of fun together!⠀ ⠀ Here’s 3 reasons to consider an engagement shoot.⠀ ⠀ 1) Having an engagement shoot gives you a chance to be photographed in non-wedding clothes. Duh. Seems obvious.. Your wedding day photographs are an amazing record to have and of course very essential, although not really a true representation of you both as an everyday couple.⠀ ⠀ 2) It gives you the opportunity to be totally creative because none of the wedding day time pressure is there. You could have your photos somewhere unexpected like your home, or your local cafe. It’s great to have photographs somewhere completely different to where you are having them on the wedding day. Think of something/somewhere that represents you as a couple or has meaning to you.⠀ ⠀ 3) This is a FANTASTIC opportunity to connect with your photographer and get to know exactly what to expect from your big day.⠀ The last thing you want to worry about is the photographs! This is especially great for the guys, so they know there is nothing to be nervous about. Relaxed Bride & Groom = natural photographs. 😊 ⠀ If you’re interested in having an engagement shoot, I’d love to chat more – send me a DM!⠀ ⠀ Also! If you secure your wedding date with me by the end of this month (April 2019) you will automatically receive a FREE engagement shoot (worth $550) PLUS a beautiful wedding planner by @blacklistwedding 💕 So get in touch to see if your date is still available!
Being a wedding photographer herself, Renee had seen a lot of weddings and wanted something different to a regular white marquee.⠀ ⠀ I’m completely obsessed with tipi marquees after Renee & Tristan’s amazing day. Such a different vibe than a white marquee and I love how open they are! Tipis create such magical unforgettable setting. Would you have one? 💫🌾 #katerobinsonweddings

Married! Last weekend I had the pleasure of travelling to Adelaide to photograph another wedding photographers wedding!⠀ ⠀ Renee and Tristan had an incredible day, every detail was thoughtful, I loved capturing every moment. It was such an honour to document a fellow photographers day, Renee was a dream, anticipating what I needed, she was wonderful to work with! Thank you both for trusting me with your most important memories xx #katerobinsonweddings
HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU PAY FOR YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?💰⠀ ⠀ Once your big day is over, the cake is eaten, the champagne is gone, and your beautiful dress is put away, the only thing left is your memories of the most incredible day. And your photographs.⠀ ⠀ Your photographs piece together things you may have missed. They can jog your memory, they can help you remember one of the most important and special days of your life.⠀ ⠀ So yes, I know I’m biased – but your photographer is an important decision!⠀ ⠀ So if you’re asking yourself the question, how much should I pay for a wedding photographer? Well, it depends on a few things.⠀ ⠀ 1️⃣ YOUR PERSONAL PRIORITIES. It’s a good idea to discuss your priorities before you talk about budget and how much to allocate towards different things. Ask yourselves what you’re most excited about for your wedding, what is most important to you.⠀ ⠀ 2️⃣ LOCATION. If you are getting married in a larger city for example, you will generally pay more for wedding suppliers compared to getting married in a town with a smaller population.⠀ ⠀ 3️⃣ AMATEUR VS PROFESSIONAL. We all know someone with a nice camera these days, but being able to handle the normal pressures a wedding day can bring – I strongly believe you hire a professional and I’d even go as far to say, hire a professional who specialises in weddings.⠀ ⠀ 4️⃣ PRODUCTS. If you’d like an album(s), this will obviously take the price higher.⠀ ⠀ 5️⃣ COVERAGE. Full day coverage (around 10-12 hours) compared to less coverage will vary the price.⠀ ⠀ You don’t need to spend allll your $ on your photography. If you want to hire a professional wedding photographer, you’ll need to spend around 2.5-3k minimum. (I’m basing this from where I live in Brisbane, Australia.)⠀ ⠀ My collections start from just under 3k for 7 hours coverage if you’re wondering. Feel free to email me to request a booklet of my full collections.⠀ ⠀ Do you agree with the above? Anything I’ve missed? If you’ve read till the end, thank you! This post was meaty, but hopefully valuable x⠀
Scott and Emma have been together since they were 14! Fast forward 10 years, they are both in their final years studying law, and Scott popped the big question 💍as the sun set over Kangaroo Point in Brisbane.⠀ ⠀ Needless to say, it was a resounding YES!! 💍 I was so privileged to photograph this loved up couple before their engagement party on the weekend at Scott’s parents beautiful property.⠀ ⠀ Congratulations you guys! You have literally grown up together, and now you will grow old together! It’s truly inspiring. 🥰⠀
Whenever people find out I’m a wedding photographer, sadly they’ll quite often tell me a horror story of their experience with a photographer, or how they had to wait for hours and hours for the bride and groom to come back from photos when they were a guest at a wedding.⠀ ⠀ Those stories break my heart. 💔 ⠀ ⠀ It may not be the most sexy topic...but having a good wedding day timeline can make or break your photography, and be the difference between your guests having the time of their lives... or wondering where you are half the time. 🤔⠀ ⠀ The timeline below is an example based on a 3pm ceremony time in the Spring/Autumn in Queensland, Australia. You may find it useful as a guide. Every wedding is unique and your timeline may look quite different.⠀ ⠀ BRIDAL PREPARATION 👰🏼 (1.5 HR)⠀ 12:00 - 1:30 pm⠀ ⠀ CEREMONY 💍 (1 HR - most of the ceremonies I photograph are around 30min but I always pad out the timeline)⠀ 2:00 - 3:00 pm⠀ ⠀ CONGRATS 🥂 / FAMILY PHOTOS (30 MIN)⠀ 3:00 - 3:30 pm⠀ ⠀ BRIDE & GROOM + BRIDAL PARTY PHOTOS 📷 (1.5 HR - not including driving time)⠀ 4:00 - 5:30 pm ⠀ ⠀ RECEPTION🍾⠀ 6:00 pm start⠀ ⠀ Consider having your ceremony and reception at the same place, or close to each other. This goes for photo locations. You don’t want to be spending half your wedding day in the car!⠀ ⠀ I love working with my couples to create the perfect timeline. Sunset photos ✔️ Relaxed portrait time ✔️ lots of quality time with your guests ✔️ ⠀ ⠀ I also love First Looks, but that’s a post for another day!⠀ ⠀ Thanks to Kylie from @justforlovephotography for having me along at Jen & Marty’s wedding, where they had the perfect timeline so we could capture these beautiful sunset shots. 🥰 If you found this post valuable, feel free to share or you can save it for later by clicking on the bookmark below the photo. That just married feeeeeling!!! 🍾🥂👏🏻 These two are on my blog today.⠀ ⠀ Jen and Marty married in the cutest Country Hall, nestled in the picturesque rolling hills in the outer western suburbs of Brisbane.⠀ ⠀ Pullenvale Hall was an ideal location for Jen and Marty, they were able to do most of the set up and styling themselves, and they did such an incredible job!⠀ After an emotional ceremony, everyone headed out to the lawn to enjoy @ink_gin Cocktails and watch the sun set over the hills.⠀ ⠀ The wedding vibe was relaxed, rustic and carefree in a gorgeous country setting.⠀ ⠀ I was so blessed to photograph this beautiful day as a second shooter for my lovely friend Kylie from @justforlovephotography 💕I love second shooting every now and then because I’m able to experience a wedding from a totally fresh perspective and it challenges me creatively, which is always a good thing!⠀ ⠀ To see more swipe 👉🏻 or visit the blog (link in bio). This makes me want to buy fresh flowers and use linen napkins ✨ One day I’ll up my table setting skills... probably best when high chairs are gone and food throwing isn’t so much of an issue... 🤔 styling @whitewhiteweddings @bouquetboutique @alchemy_bris @lauraelizabethdesign
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY!⠀ ⠀ I’m the eldest of 4 girls. I’ve been surrounded by nurturing, strong, confident women my entire life.⠀ ⠀ One thing I’ve been thinking about lately is contentment. It’s so easy to look around and want what others have.⠀ ⠀ But the grass isn’t greener somewhere else; it’s greenest wherever you water it. ⠀ ⠀ This year, I’m actively seeking contentment in these ways:⠀ ⠀ 1. Stop comparing. It’s one of the quickest ways to seal your joy! But we were created with purpose, unique to you and no one else.⠀ ⠀ 2. Practicing Gratitude. Spending more time focusing on what I do have, and less time distracted by what I don’t.⠀ ⠀ 3. Nurturing relationships. Because that’s what will matter when I’m 80.⠀ ⠀ Regardless of our circumstances, I think if our vision is clear enough we can be guided by purpose and then experience freedom, deep peace and true contentment.⠀ ⠀ “Keep shining beautiful girl, the world needs your light”.⠀📷: @lydiarachelphoto
