It has truly been such a pleasure going through all of the photos and editing this past month — especially with smiles like these that warm your heart ! ❤️ All of our packages are scheduled to be ready by the end of the month !! I will share more from C’s preschool experience in my stories. ( @dnicole29 )These images are the same as what you would get in a digital download, printed for a portfolio or in his case added to a coffee table book.
This custom crayon alphabet made with love by @rainbowbabycolours is sitting proudly in my studio — almost too pretty to use!!! . . . I am sharing this amazing new company “Rainbow Baby Colour Creations” by a woman I admire, @kathleen_rose and her son who I got to know and love here at TransformEd Creative Studio and Learning Centre. . . . See you never forget the people who support your business when you’re first starting out… That they believed in you when perhaps you didn’t even know if it could evolve into something more. I say this, because, Kathleen was that for me, as were so many other families in the Vaughan community who came out to register for my studio programs. Even though she didn’t have to, she purchased gift certificates for family members, referred her friends, all of whom later signed up too. There is no better compliment than this kind of belief in your service!!! . . . Kathleen thank you for supporting my dream of TransformEd. I hope that I can help spread the word of your wonderful new products and encourage you, as a momtrepreneur to keep dreaming BIG! . . . Check out some more photographs in my stories for your next birthday gift or lootbags! Everything is non-toxic, can be customized, and above all is not only useful but educational too!
Rays of light and reflections. Found this gem 💎 during my birthday walk down memory lane of Baby Sebby. I remember I needed to monitor this mirror very carefully at the time, because it was a real one... Thankfully now I found shatterproof acrylic ones for the studio that work just as well!! I’m going to share those in another post.
Today the birthday boy (Sebby who is now 4 years - 9 months in the pictures) said “‘Mama don’t cry because I’m bigger. I can be little for you. And when I grow up to be older I will buy you something okay?!” 😢 #myheart 💙 Thank you everyone for your sweet birthday wishes! Sebby was the first infant to inspire my work in The TransformEd Creative Studio and Learning Centre.
And just like that, I blinked 👀 and my baby boy turned 4! Today is about you my sweet Sebby Dee. 🧿 Everything else can wait... #sweetsebastiandean #mybabyturnedfour #lightingspeed 🌩 ⚡️To new parents/future parents: Take photos and videos at any opportunity you can. You will never regret the time or the investment in them. Because of my line of work, my children and I do many Photoshoots and I try to document their studio learning if/when possible and it’s still not enough (for me) !!! Honestly it’s the only way I can wrap up everything we experience into a time capsule that I can treasure and look back upon years to come... I wish I had taken more and have spent the last week going through newborn/infant, toddler, preschooler and almost Kindergartener photographs/video clips. Posted ten in my stories like a little album — some with professional photographers, my own captures or from family members. All equally beautiful! 💙 Life got a whole lot sweeter on January 20th, 2016 and while most consider this to be “blue Monday,” it will always remain one of the happiest days of my life... (PC: @lauraclarkephotos) Today I also celebrate being born as a Mama and all the love and effort we have poured into our son over the last four years. 💙
Four years ago on this night, I arrived at the hospital and thought I had everything prepared to meet our first baby. Little did I know that nothing could/would ever prepare me for this adventure of parenthood. While I kissed my boy goodnight for the last time as a three year old, I did what I’ve done every other eve of his birthday — I held him tight, said I loved him, and cried. Happy and sad tears. Happy because I’m so proud of him and lucky enough to be his Mama and sad because I always wish I could do and be more for him. I’m trying not to feel mom guilt, but I do. These moments are just slipping through my fingers and I wasn’t prepared for the roller coaster ride of emotions!! My heart has grown immeasurably, and I sincerely hope I have the strength/good health to see him through each of life’s milestones... For now, I’m just laying here beside him quietly listening to his every sound and taking in this special time. How will I wake up to a four year old tomorrow? Decorating his nursery for his arrival home felt like just yesterday... And yet in many ways I don’t remember life without him !!! My baby. Always. 😭
Sebby: I want to marry you one day! . . Me: Why am I the lucky girl? . . Sebby: Because you’re the girl I love the most in the world! You look pretty with all the nice dresses. . . He said this to me yesterday — my sweet threenager is already such a little charmer! You have my heart sweet boy! ❤️ (Truth be told I love to dress up and do have many dresses 👗 👗 ☺️ ☺️ 🙈🙈 — He notices everything and I never even realized...)
Being a teacher is a gift. 🎁 While processing our photography packages, I am reminded of all the special moments shared in The TransformEd Creative Studio and Learning Centre. It reaffirms for me that I am right where I was meant to be, doing what I love most — teaching young children! (Portfolio of Learning Moments - Infant J @xtinatorchia) For some FAQ about our photography check out my stories...
I love adding tissue paper into our sensory tub for infants to sit inside or crawl around in! They love the crunching sounds so much !!! To my surprise, toddlers continued to explore the space by jumping in and out of the box, squashing the paper with their feet, and school aged children enjoyed throwing the tissue up in the air and dancing underneath it while it fell onto them. Lots of possibilities here !!! (Baby J who’s portfolio this came from and that I will be sharing in my stories late plus Baby M who has his first birthday today xoxo @xtinatorchia @saraflo31). These infants are friends and their moms joined our Exploring Everywhere for Infants program together. It was nice for them to attend weekly and socialize !!
This is how I see learning — always in motion, changing with many twists and turns along the way ! The creative process may feel messy, but when you trust in it your experience is more beautiful and memorable !!! (Sample of beginning writing and mark making in our drop off preschool program. Great preparation for Kindergarten!)
Being one of the very first educational experiences for children is a huge responsibility! I always try my best to expose them to a wide variety of materials with the ultimate goal that they feel safe (to try something new), happy and curious to learn... (Can’t wait for A to start in our drop off preschool at the end of January @mabotonis)
One more week until I welcome a group of educators for a studio experience and process of learning... Together we will explore an emergent curriculum and focus on improving the photography within our pedagogical documentation. Just working through the details for our online version with participants from Australia, South America, Europe, UAE, Canada, and USA. (PC: @lauraclarkephotos)
Complete and utter AWE - the look our students have when they gaze up at their incredible parents. When I can capture these beautiful moments of relationship, my heart becomes mush 💙 !!!! (Going to share some more of Baby J and his Mama @nadcamps in my story today).
Give the gift of #TheTransformEdExperience! . . Presents for children’s birthdays (infant to 12 year olds), baby showers/newborns, first birthdays, even teacher/adult artists. . . These gift certificates are either for a single class pass or an amount of your choosing that can be put towards a program, photo package, workshop, event, or service that we offer at The TransformEd Creative Studio and Learning Centre. . . They come in four different pastel colours all wrapped up in gold ribbon with a blank card inside for your special note. Otherwise, they can also be emailed to you digitally to print out or send electronically to your loved ones! . . . Two biggest compliments this past holiday season were when my own friends and relatives gifted them to their friends/family members as Christmas presents. Or when our regular studio students/parents added it to their Wishlist and had grandparents/aunts/uncles purchase more classes!!! . . Thank you to all those who have shown an interest! :)
Sebby: I have an idea 💡 Mama! (Goes to our kitchen sink with his trucks and cars.) We can make an experiment! (Grabs the chair to get the cookie sheet from the cupboard. Fills it with rice, sugar, and later oatmeal.) I know ! We should try adding water to see what happens!!! 💧 🚒 🚙 🍚 Me: Let me get my camera before Daddy comes home! (My son and now daughter love to make their own experiences in the kitchen. I recognize this as sensory play and sometimes it happens in pots/pans with our spices too. I love their initiative and creativity! My only worry has nothing to do with the mess — it’s actually how they will be received by their future Kindergarten educators. Will the teacher/RECE support their experiments and inquiries? Or will they find these ideas to be over the top and ignore them. 😢 Hearing his little voice and now Lily’s saying “I have an idea” melts my heart. These are the kinds of students I always wished for! The curious types who aren’t shy to try something new!)
Painting with fingers 🖐 and flowers 🌸 🌺 ! Today just got away from me ... Ever have those days where so much happened and yet you didn’t quite accomplish what you had planned? Finally got around to posting this inspiring palette of blooms 💐 !! Flowers have a way of always making me 😃!! Anyway — Time for bed so I can start it all over again in the morning !! 😘
Oh you know... just catching up on some reading ... 📖 📚 🐛 🤓 #babybookworm (Infant reader S @claudnaccadipietra)
I’ve learned to smile off any negativity or unkind comments... Four years ago I was pregnant with my son and a colleague I worked with at school told my husband “Joanne has all of these big ideas and dreams for starting programs, running her consulting business, and finishing her PhD while being a new parent. Just wait and see when the kids come that she won’t accomplish any of it.” Yup - true story and from another woman too that was a mother with professional goals of her own. Well here I am still studying, and still working hard to provide the best programming and consulting services that I can for early learning. These experiences have made me stronger and taught me a lot of hard lessons, most especially how we control our reaction... I now choose to channel all negativity to fuel my purpose/passion. So today I smile and thank this person and all the rest who tried to make me feel bad about my big ideas in education. I also take this opportunity to use my influence in supporting fellow women. Collaboration over competition. Always. #hatersgonnahate #womensupportingwomen #wearesomuchstrongerthanwethink ( PC: @lauraclarkephotos )
Sometimes people arrive on my page and think that I’m an art teacher or that we only “do art” in the studio. Just wanted to say that The Arts (visual arts, music, drama, dance) and creativity are a vehicle for getting at so much other learning... For instance here this infant is learning how to use his fine motor skills, grabbing the crayon with control and tapping it onto the paper to make marks. Through this experience he is noticing or being exposed to the colour blue and conversations can happen about the same colour as his clothing. In addition, the child is socially interacting and building a closer connection with his parent — developing trusting relationships with not only his caregiver, but also perhaps with his educators, his friends, and in doing so building confidence in this new environment. Finally, he is exploring his curiosity and engaging in a positive and joyful first educational encounter which to me is so critical for future schooling ! Therefore, instilling a love of thinking/learning is always one of my number one priorities in our space!! (Artist V @cararosaria @concretegangster )
Or perhaps the water colours shown in yesterday’s post can become an experiment 🧪 💦 🎨 🧫 💧! ( Artist R @evelyn.matsuoka )
