Cute as a button but up to no good! I turn around for a second and he’s digging up his daddy’s lemon tree !! Caught him just in time before he did any damage. #sorrymama #sebbydee

When I’m in the studio I feel so inspired !! Loving our crafty little Christmas tree !! 🎄 Check out my stories to get a glimpse into my holiday decor process. Still have a few ideas before it’s all revealed !!! I’m going to make our reading and relaxation house more festive. Any suggestions? It’s the one with the grey half door, window with flower box, white panelling, and wooden roof. I will post it in my stories for your help!! You can leave a comment below after you see it...
Simple finger painted paper ornaments for our creative 🎄 tree. We hung them with pipe cleaners, however, you can use ribbon, or even wire. This was made by a three year old with her Mama yesterday. I have been posting a lot of our infants and toddlers on my IG feed, but The TransformEd Creative Studio is really loved by all ages including the preschool, school aged children as well as the adults-parents/caregivers/volunteers !! I will have to give you a tour soon with our holiday decor !! It feels like Santa’s workshop 🎅🏻!! (A and Mommy painting @donatelli85)
We had the best time exploring icing sugar in the studio today overtop of none other than the Brooklyn Bridge. #itsthemostwonderfultimeoftheyear P.S. I could not get my son away from this sensory experience !!! (Cutest duo - N kept hugging Sebby and then continued to play @thadaze @angelavillanova)
Thankful for the amazing families and their email requests, as they continue to motivate our creative studio to keep refining our services! TransformEd is now providing gift certificates as holiday presents and birthday parties for children birth to 8 years old !! 📸: @clarkylaura (You can purchase a single pass for $35+HST during our Open Studio: Play and Create classes or any of our 6-12 week programs/photography packages). Now that I think about it, it’s kinda nice to provide an experience over a toy for Christmas ! Wouldn’t you agree?

Tip for group and individual paintings: Put large mural paper or neutral wrapping paper onto the ground. Allow the children to paint together for a collaborative art experience, but also offer them their own pieces of paper, cardboard or canvases. They can create directly on top of the group mural and not worry about the paint going everywhere ! All their beautiful marks will only enhance how it turns out !!
Last week we made playdough with the children thanks to our amazing Ms. Suzy @sueluce38 ❤️ ! It was especially fun to go through the steps in Greek for our students to hear new words during the language class. Today we are learning about “fruits” (fruit) and I will try and share some behind the scenes in the stories a little later...
Supporting a wonderful cause tonight for the Toronto Catholic District School Board and their Angel Foundation for Learning. Fun fact, I actually started my own education in the TCDSB as a Kindergarten student at Saint Aiden Catholic Elementary School in Scarborough. Loved my first teacher Mrs. Killoran and now as a PhD student I again have a Dr. Isabel Killoran (my supervising professor - but no relation) @isabelkilloran. What are the odds of that??????! 📸: Photos with my bestie @mar.lena.o at tonight’s Great Gatsby themed gala ❤️ ! Kinda nice to get all dolled up for a change ! @angelfoundationforlearning
Colour matching using some of my fav @pantone children’s postcards. I have to also get myself another set of their colour board books as my Lily used the orange one for her teether 🤦🏼♀️!!! Ps. This is a flatlay of my creative process - would never give the children any adult scissors, hot glue gun or wire cutters !!!
Language classes can feel intense - or at least that’s how I always remember them and so so SO boring ... I work really hard to make my language classes in the studio hands on and fun for children ! Here we have a little guy exploring our “supermarket.” While I’m in this space with them I can provide him with real conversation skills and vocabulary as he plays (e.g., food, numbers, colours, shapes, size, etc.). Then at the end of class the parents get a copy of the newly introduced words (written in English so they can try to read and pronounce them at home - see next photo from our Greek class). During our hour we also sing songs, learn poems or chants, hear a story and dance. Currently only our Greek classes are running, but I’ve hired an Italian teacher to begin the same format in January 2019. Email me to register. Classes will be Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. starting January 26th. You can have six or twelve options to choose from.
Abstract paintings overtop of Christmas cards. When this masterpiece is placed into a nice frame (I’m thinking brass 🖼 💛) it will make for such a beautiful holiday gift !!! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 I am trying really hard to be more conscious of what I use and throw out in the studio. For this reason, I’m making every effort to reuse in creative ways wherever possible... These are old Christmas cards and after pasting them onto the construction paper with white glue and popsicle sticks, I gave the children some reusable jar lids and netting (from fruits and vegetables) to dip into the paint and make marks on their art. That along with their fingers and traditional paintbrushes did just the trick !! (Little Miss S really impressed us this week @alanadg). @michaelsstores @crayola #madewithmichaels
Artists come in all shapes and sizes ! My favourite is when they begin from a very young age ❤️! On the table I have placed a wooden lazy Susan from @ikeacanada with a brass charger (typically for under plates) from @walmartcanada and a paint tray from @michaelsstores to hold my @crayola pastels. Sometimes I prefer removing their paper label, because I feel like they look more adult like for our serious little creatives in the studio !! But it’s the same non-toxic colourful quality that gives families peace of mind !! (Artist S is back and so grown up @alanadg)
Even though this looks like a painting 🖼 it’s actually our water play using @crayola bath drops. I placed one pink and one blue to create some purple water explorations. Just a reminder to our families that an extra change of clothes are still necessary for our messy play opportunities !
Sometimes in life we meet these incredible souls whose generosity quite literally leaves us feeling speechless... This lovely human and talented artist I speak of is @annawithlove (my childhood friend) who took the time out of her day to write a blog post about our studio space. Anna is a Mama of a toddler and runs an inspiring business @shop.annawithlove with her amazing photography. If you didn’t think that was busy enough, she recently moved and renovated her new home, and is also expecting baby number two any day now... Please visit my stories to get the direct link and read her post. Ps. You know she’s on another level with her photographs, because on the day we had her visit I accidentally had my dimmers on 🤦🏼♀️ so the space wasn’t nearly as bright as it should have been !! Anna you work pure magic 🦄 🌈 🌟!! So proud of all you have accomplished !! It’s an honour to be shared within your online community. Thank you! 💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋 📸: @annawithlove
I made this fruit tree with my nieces and nephews. The inside is two pineapples 🍍 🍍 stacked. One is a tiny bit smaller than the other and it rests on top. Then we picked our favourite fruits and used a toothpick to attach them all in style. 🎄 I want to start cooking with my children this Christmas. At 1 and 2.5 years of age, do you have any suggestions for what we could begin with? I know that they are young, but I was thinking simple cookies or a homemade pudding. Please leave some ideas below to inspire other Mama’s (Grandmas), aunties, or educators like me.
How do you use your light table ? We have our light pad on the ground resting overtop of a soft comforter so that even our littlest learners can appreciate it ! For more inspiration and ideas on how to improve your light table experiences follow our November challenge @ctinquiry: #cti_lighttableproposals. (Miss Lily and S.C. @pablynie @adgecalabro).
DIY paintbrushes with a whole lot of festive cheer using simple clothes pins!! I used a hot glue gun to stick feathers, pine cones, bells, ribbons, and more... Then I added finger paint to a cut up egg carton for easy access. 🎄 It’s an organizing and decluttering kind of day for me in the studio and hopefully I can make it to a @homesensecanada or @chaptersindigo later for some special Christmas accent pieces. I saw a little typewriter with “Letters to Santa” 🎅🏻 a few weeks that I hope is still available !! @michaelsstores #madewithmichaels @crayola
First paintings by infants are always special moments in our studio. ❤️ Wanted to share a heartfelt thanks to our newly registered groups. Working closely with children and families (parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, nannies, etc.) has become the most rewarding part of opening up the studio space. (4 month old artist C.T. @ali_tinker @nick_tinker) Here I used the “my first” @crayola fingerpaint that is washable and non-toxic on the baby’s feet. The cardboard was also sturdy enough for stamping and movement, as well as the perfect thickness to be placed into a frame at a later time.
