I rode this Uber on my 26th birthday. I remember it because the driver is Russian and he was playing the coolest jazz music in his car then. That day was one of the best days of 2017 when I celebrated how far I've come at 26, how strong I've become since the months prior to that when I was bullied so much I brought a legal team in. I took this photo just now. In the same uber. Same driver. Same jazz music, even. It's been a really freaking good day. The best in a while. To top it off, I found out today that justice has been partly served. That karma made its way back and did its thing. And as I sit here right now I'm thinking about the version of me who sat here back in October, amazed at how I've changed since then.I published an interview with a Hollywood celebrity for my own blog today even! Yet I'm still me. Same lazy shit who ubers everywhere. Different but changed. Tomorrow I get to go back to the place that started it all, speaking in front of a huge crowd about the journey so far. Life's pretty crazy, huh? Right now I feel like I'm exactly where I need to be (stuck in Auckland traffic writing long captions on social media lol). Like I've just gone full circle. Maybe I have. Maybe I have indeed.
Today's interview is a special one as The Greatest Showman is a film that's really made an impact on me so this really is such a dream. I chat to @thesamhumphrey about his favourite Kiwi lolly (he's a proud Kiwi, afterall), what it was like working with Zac Efron and Hugh Jackman (that feel when your idol becomes your friend, amirite?), and the ultimate pep talk that Sam gave me about pursuing my dreams. Thank you Sam! Link in bio 🎩❤ @thesamhumphrey @palpublicrelations @greatestshowman
I fell in love with @not_for_you_clothing the moment designer Jerome Taylor sent his models down the runway to an epic curation of tracks as his pieces just flowed. I thought to myself, give it time. This will be big. Well the time may just be now. I talk to @jerome.notforyouclothing ahead of Vancouver Fashion Week where he will be showing in just a few weeks! Proud is an understatement. At the launch of Suzanne de Malplaquet's 'Eddie Motion and the Tangible Magik' hosted by TVNZ @augustusbistro tonight with my handsome date. Nearly cried when Suzanne spoke of magic and how we must never let that go. Can't wait to read this ❤

We cannot rise until all of us can. Until we treat each other as equals, no matter the gender, race, sexual orientation, shape, size, disability etc. Your feminism means nothing if it doesn't include ALL of us. If your #lifteachotherup concept doesn't include people of colour, our trans sisters, non-binary, people with disability, and all women, then sis who is it for? Not all of us fit into the aesthetic that come with the #girlboss trend nowadays and I can't help but wonder when did gals supporting gals only be a thing if they fit a certain narrative and aesthetic? Feminism isn't just pretty photos, Instagram aesthetics, the girl gangs and cliques and #squadgoals. I'm so uncomfortable when people capitalise on this and only do it because it's the latest 'it' thing to do. Supporting each other isn't always pretty or easy. Sometimes it's calling out problematic behaviour (respectfully, of course, and always with love). It's open and honest conversations, empathy and being humble enough to listen without getting defensive. It's being brave enough to own your voice with conviction, even if it feels like you're standing alone. #Pressforprogress this International Women's Day. The little things we do collectively make a big impact. One of the things I'm committing to is making my blog a safe place for everyone. While I can only speak and write from my own experience as a straight, able-bodied, woman of colour, I want more representation, voices heard, and experience shared. I'll be speaking up even when it feels like I'm alone in my thoughts and feelings. Especially then. Ceilings are being shattered, tables are being built to seat all of us at that metaphorical table. Do your part. Be kinder. Make your circle more inclusive. I live in a world that constantly makes me feel like it isn't for me because of the way I look, the colour of my skin, and all the other things that make an outsider. I call bullshit on that. I'm here. I'm showing up anyway. And I'm going to MAKE IT WERK. Yours in solidarity, power, and love. Happy International Women's Day! You are pretty fucking magical 💖
Oscars ready! All the best for tonight to this wonderful lot. Can't wait to cry my eyes out when kween @kealasettle performs This Is Me on that stage soon #oscars
Essentials when interviewing an actor from your fave movie: phone charger in case phone starts dying mid-interview, laptop playing the movie soundtrack to hype you up beforehand (THIS IS MEEEE), lipstick even though no one can see you, water because you're nervous as hell and your mouth is dry, wallet just in case you want to get tickets to see the movie again after, paper, notebook, pen because even though you're recording it you still want to take notes, and last but not the least - the best hotel suite @grandmercureauckland to scream, fangirl, dance, and have a cheeky lie down in after. Transcribing an hour worth of audio today! Can't wait to share this one soon 🎩🎩🎩 #thegreatestshowman
Just got off the phone with one of the stellar cast members from The Greatest Showman (aka my current obsession) and the interview is going live soon! Him in LA, me in this gorgeous suite @grandmercureauckland that they've kindly let me use for it. Such a dreamy morning. Please take me back 😍❤
