Say it again 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 #progressoverperfection #retrograde
Remember those disposable cameras I mentioned a few weeks ago? 📸 The ones that were permanently glued to my hands and costing me a fortune to develop. (Seriously, I should have bought stock in Walgreens or CVS.) Well there is one thing that hasn’t changed one bit from when I started clicking and winding to the fancy, professional cameras I have now: my favorite photos are always the ones that capture real emotion, individual personality, natural beauty, and unique inspiration. Technically perfect photos are impeccable and impressive, but that isn’t what sets my soul on 🔥 fire. I love the fierce look in a woman’s eye when she feels truly empowered and beautiful in her portraits. I love the inspiration that seeps out of a product image when it so perfectly represents an entrepreneurs love for their business. I love the laughter that bloopers cause and the contemplation a viewer feels when they see something ordinary from a new perspective. Perfect is great. But Perfectly imperfect is even better. 💙
📷“That is a beautiful photo, but…” 😑 I have heard that before. And I hope that it helps all of you non-photographers out there feel a little bit better when people say it to you. you are not alone. It can sting when it first hits your ears, but if you take a step back, it can actually be one of the best pieces of advice you ever receive. (Unless of course its coming from that negative nancy friend, and in that case I recommend you ignore her completely). You see, one of the biggest struggles I see in social media images is an over-the-top focus on styling and adding props. This can be confusing, even in some of the most beautiful of images. When someone looks at your photo, their eye should immediately be drawn to the main subject whether that is a person 👩🏽🌾, a place 🕌, a cup of coffee ☕️, a book 📚 , or anything else in the world. So before you snap your next image, ask yourself what you are really wanting to show in the photo. What is the main subject? What do you want your followers to see? Is that what the focus of the photo is really on?
Oh, Monday. 💭 Why do the Monday’s with the most to do always end up being the ones you really wish you could be 💤 sleeping in on? Is it just me, or do you feel me? I have accepted that there will probably always be a Monday ✏️ to-do list, but I will forever be looking for ways to make it a little easier to start the week off with. 〰️〰️What are your MONDAY HACKS for starting the week off right? ☕️☕️

People like to say it’s a small world, but I think badass women are just brought together by the universe. 💃🏻
