Ayyyee! I’m Amanda! You read my thoughts and see my face on here the most, but you see work from both myself and our other photographer, Katie! (You can get to know her more @katieleeyork) • I’m a recovering workaholic (which is not a badge of honor), and I’m loving how much cooler😎 I am as a human now that health is a priority. It’s a double edge sword though because ya know what? I love my job. Like, really really love my job. We get to celebrate with people day in and day out, and not just celebrate, but create art that allows them to physically hold their memories. 😱 We get to hear dreams and visions, see grand expressions of love right in front of us, meet world-changers, witness genuine belly laughs, be reminded that there IS good (and lots of it) in the world, cultivate new friendships, build confidence and a million other things that make are lives so incredibly rich. • I love documenting in a way that shows emotion and light and joy and laughter and all the things that make humans remarkable, but also the warrior everyone has inside of them; the warrior that perseveres and hustles and bounces back and survives. That’s why my style is full of light and happy faces, but you’ll also see a touch of edge and fierceness. • It’s easy to fall into line with trends or the trap of comparison, but I think our photography should be just as authentic to us as we want it to be for our clients. YOU have greatness inside of you, and your greatness doesn’t look like anyone else’s!! Explore your OWN authenticity. Be true to your own creative self. That can be hard when you see others being successful; naturally, you want to mimic that. Don’t. Do you. Be you. Me looking at the three day weekend. • What have you guys been up to? I caught the last day of my friend’s bachelorette party, and am spending the last few hours here in Miami in the Wynwood art district for a fun session and brunch with a sweet friend. Yay! 🌞 • Speaking of laboring—It’s easy to forget about the importance of investment. If you’re in the beginning stages of a career or a project or pursuing a dream, our instant gratification society conditions us to want results right now. Because of that, it’s easy to give up when it doesn’t happen right away or even quickly. If you’re struggling with impatience or frustration, remember a garden doesn’t grow in a day. Find joy and contentment in the sowing. Other’s success didn’t happen overnight (unless they won the lottery...but that’s irrelevant and unicorns aren’t real, so work hard instead). There are years of intentional struggle, and failures, and small victories, and moments of defeat and everything in between that are stones on their paths. Persistence. Patience. Perseverance.
