Your breath travels with you wherever you go. #findyourcenter . Sunshine, sand between the toes, and ocean breeze is how I spent my first day back in Sydney. . On the previous day of flying I organized stretch & walking breaks around the @virginaustralia plane, either move it or lose it, had a few join me on these breaks, it was awesome 👏🏽. . After getting off a 24 hour flight it’s easy to be lazy, but we are meant to move, so off to the beach, Curl Curl to be exact, pictured here. Walking the beach because I delight in movement. . The very next day, I spoke at CBA (Commonwealth Bank of Australia) about Quality Sleep & Rest. A talk I wouldn’t have had the energy for unless Movement was a priority in my life. I trained hard for 27 minutes on the morning of. . Yesterday, I left the house at 6am to spend my morning with my mentor, and if anyone knows Robert Fergusson, you know, not to yawn and only bring your A game. I made time to move before I left the house so I would maximize my experience with Robert. . Lastly, we arrive to this morning. This rainy and cold-ish morning and the point of this post. My speaking agent, Agent K and I jogged to the beach in the pouring rain, hung up a new @nba fresh net, because nothing is like the sound of a swish and shot hoops. We moved and moved well. . Movement is my normal but I know it’s not most peoples. That led me to thinking why 🤔. My overarching answer is simply discipline. . My discipline comes from multiple mentors and hero’s, my Mum, My Pops, Uncle Joe, Dr. Jeffrey Bland, Todd Durkin, Marco Borges, Robert Fergusson to name a few. They all helped me build the muscle of discipline. . I’m going to start posting more about discipline as I’m certain it’s going to help make a difference. . Staying in the theme of surprises since April fools/Easter surprising my Mum, last night the bday girl @carminatv received a birthday surprise filled with good people, good food and good music. . I was reminded again why surprises are so important. Carmina’s fiancé my brother @quddustv organized the bday surprise and what it showed was intention, caring and love #hugefuturehusbandbonuspoints . . Carmina was grateful beyond measure sharing some happy tears and fully receiving the love from all of us. . Choosing a full life of design vs a limited life of default involves surprises. . Default: being such an “adult” that every minute is planned, that busy becomes who you are. . Design: being a “grown-up” that also dreams-up creating space for surprises, allowing yourself to be surprised aka letting go of control, or giving the gift of surprise. Recently my speaking & spirit mentor Robert Fergusson challenged me by saying, evolution isn’t complexity at all, but it’s more simplicity. . He followed that up with, “If my 10 year old granddaughter doesn’t understand my message then it’s not ready to be spoken.” . I’m choosing to go with my Mentors definition, sorry Dictionary, and taking steps to simplify my workshops, keynotes, and mentoring. . Excited to role out in May my mentorship program as I already have 2 candidates signed up. I’ve had tons of people ask me about this, wanting to be mentored as I believe any and all success over the last 15 years in my career has been because of the right mentors at the right time. Treasure Your Traditions. 😢🙌🏽 . What does TRADITION mean to you? Do you have a tradition you practice? . I heard it said once, “At the heart of every family tradition is a meaningful experience.” . For the last 10 years I’ve been intentional about creating experiences during our family holidays. For Easter my Hero, aka my Mum & I always join a few hundred locals in my hometown & celebrate with sunrise service. Here’s the catch, I’m also infamous for legendary April fools surprises & jokes even if I’m the only one laughing 😂. . Anything to break peoples patterns, it’s my superpower 😃. I do it for a living while coaching, teaching or speaking getting people to #thinkwell & you better believe I do the same to my loved ones daily. This year, Easter & April fools fell on the same calendar day 🥁. . This video is the result of 4 months of April fools planning, a 24 hour flight from Australia 🇦🇺 the day before, a 4 hour drive & multiple family & friends 🙊🤫 virtually impossible during the age of social media. But we did it 🎉. . I’ve been thinking a lot about tradition & surprises since Easter. Tradition: the handing down of beliefs and customs from generation to generation, especially by word of mouth or by practice. I ❤️ practice. . At TED @ted I spoke about Design vs Default living, here’s another example. . Default: being an “adult” and having everything & every minute planned. . Design: being a “grown-up” that dreams up creating space for surprises, allowing yourself to be surprised or giving the gift of surprise.
