We purchased some old salvaged wood to build our dining room table for #thecottonmillhouse from a local ad on Craigslist. The ad listed the wood as being over 100 yrs old from a free standing farmhouse kitchen. We finally moved the wood to our garage and noticed 1899 inscribed on one of the pieces. I am hoping we are able to maintain this inscription and use it on the table top somewhere.😍 Our plan was to plane all the wood down and remove the white chippy paint but I may have to alter the design after seeing this. Decisions, Decisions! 😉 Any thoughts or ideas? #salvage #farmhousestyle #farmhouse #historichome #oldhomelove #renovation #modernfarmhousestyle #interiors #interiordesign #customfurniture
Our hearts are broken to see the devastation that has taken place in Texas. The destruction is unimaginable and our prayers are for the victims, responders, rescuers and all that is involved in the recovery efforts. I have been amazed at the overwhelming response to help and assist those impacted by the flood. It has helped to restore my faith in humanity. I have witnessed love, generosity, and compassion extended to those in need. This is how we should live and love one another daily. I pray that this sense of unity and acts of love and kindness will continue long after the flood waters recede and remnants of Hurricane Harvey are no more. Our prayer is that God will continue to create beauty in the lives and hearts of those impacted and bring restoration from these ashes. #encourageoneanother #living511 #prayfortexas
Today was furniture delivery day at #thecottonmillhouse. Our sofa and chair has replaced our lawn furniture. Woohoo! I have to admit I did get a little emotional. We have put so much work into getting to this point and seeing our dream come together is overwhelming and humbling. We are extremely blessed and God has given us more than we ever deserve. All that we have is because of HIM and that is where all glory and honor is due. #modernfarmhouse #modernfarmhousestyle #fixerupper #mycupofjojo #renovation #oldhomelove #farmhousestyle #historichome
Progress, at times, seems to be slow going. I just want it done. I want to go from before to after with no in between. It is always the middle that is the hardest. It is usually filled with emotions of frustration, pain, discouragement and sometimes tears. I am learning that it is in those middle moments where the miracles begin to take place, where transformation occurs, and growth happens. It is in the middle where character is developed, strength is made stronger and faith is deepened. It is in the middle that God does his best work. Yet, we want to rush the process instead of allowing Him to complete the vision HE has for us. I am learning that the middle is often times more beautiful than the after. Dear friends, if you find yourself in the middle embrace it because God is doing an amazing work and creating a beautiful and better you. Love and prayers! . . . . . #thecottonmillhouse #encourageoneanother #living511 #modernfarmhouse #kitchenupdate #oldhomelove #historichome #renovation #farmhousestyle
At the beginning of 2016, I chose the word COURAGE as my word of the year. I am sharing on our blog exactly what that word meant for me last year and how it involved the courage of letting go....link in profile.
