Asclepias syriaca is commonly called milkweed or silkweed. It is a species of flowering plant. This species is native to southern Canada and east to the Rock Mountains in the US. In the 17th century it was medicinally used to increase lactation with breastfeeding moms. Although the milky substance from the plant itself is toxic.
Some species of Agapanthus are commonly known as Lily of Nile or African Lily, although they are not lilies and despite the fact that all Agapanthus species are native to South Africa. 💜
