Just one more month in our shading study- Algal fouling has hit hard in the last two months, and dropping temps make short term air drying a less and less effective remedy. The shades remain very effective at both preventing and removing algal fouling. #maineaquaculture #aquaculture #citizenscience #SARE
Sold my first hardshell clams today! Maybe the first start-to-finish aquaculture-produced quahogs in Maine- and easily the sweetest clams I've ever tasted. These started out as 1mm seed in 2017 and were grown in contained-culture (at the surface in the nursery phase and then in sediments) I'm now in my third season of testing this technique. Thanks to the USDA #SARE program for making this work possible! #maine #quahog #aquaculture #maineaquaculture #winnegance
Getting the scallops situated
So excited to continue our hardshell-clam/oyster polyculture-research! We've partnered with Manomet and are testing the technique with three more commercial oyster farms.
Caught this creep lurking under my lines... watching.... 🦑 First squid on the farm- a surprise every day
