Learn to embrace grief and integrate the pain graciously into your life through the healing powers of yoga and meditation. Through a heart opening practice, story sharing, and guided meditations, you’ll discover how to sit with your pain in body and mind. You'll experience how to connect with a state of balance as your grief becomes less of a burden and more of a healing process. The suffering from loss looks different for everyone and therefore, the healing process varies. Find solace with others in this therapeutic workshop centered around understanding, accepting, and mastering your grief. Through this workshop you will find refuge in the present moment, develop techniques to care for your grieving body and mind, learn to ride the rollercoaster of hope and despair, and you will discover how to live after loss; honoring legacies while continuing on your own journey. Invite vibration into your life! Kirtan - Saturday, Feb 3rd, 5-7pm Kirtan is call-and-response chanting from India's Bhakti Yoga tradition, the yoga of devotion, along with musical instruments. Chanting mantras helps to create the bhav or mood of devotion. It is a chance to feel your voice and tap into the vibrations of sound generated through your own body, through mantras, in the company of others. It's also lots of fun! As Krishna Das says, chanting is like cleaning the mirror of the heart. There is no right way to chant. Simply by giving voice to the mantra, we connect more fully to our own potential, a limitless experience of our own capacity to love and be loved. Because the chants themselves come from a place beyond thought, chanting calls the mind to surrender to the heart. You do not have to know the words or have a great voice. Grow Your Flow Workshop with Katy on Saturday, Jan. 27th 1-3pm You'll learn skills necessary to make your personal vinyasa yoga practice safe, stable, and sustainable. Vinyasa yoga is a style of asana (posture) practice characterized by dynamic, breath-linked movement, or “flow”. Some of the repetitive movements included in a typical vinyasa yoga class can be harmful to our bodies if done without proper technique and awareness. In Grow Your Flow we will connect to the true meaning of “vinyasa”, translated literally as “to place in a special way.” Expect to learn some background about the Vinyasa tradition, to break down Sun Salutations in great detail, and to learn a variety of different “vinyasas” or posture combinations ideal for transitioning your body and breathing between flows. This workshop is open to all levels and is appropriate for everyone - from new beginners to long-time practitioners looking to refine their practice.
