Monday morning! You beauty :) Have a good week everyone, whatever you’re up to. I’m headed to the Inner Hebrides, so it’s going to be a good one!
Headed over to Mallaig on the the West coast of Scotland. Captured the sun going down over the Isle of Eigg. Rum tomorrow! Can’t wait...
Forced smiles all round! Natures ice bath after a good hike in the mountains. Meeting some great people doing my Mountain Leader Award... & so far everyone seems pretty keen for the wild swimming too!
Hiking... well being blown around the Cairngorms today! Had to change our plan to reach the summit of Ben Macdui what with the 50mph winds. It didn’t rain though!! 👍👍
The sun finally making an appearance and a cup of tea by the stunning Dochart Falls in Killin made up for another summit (Ben Vorlich) in the rain & cloud earlier today!
Today's view not so good... BUT the hot cup of tea & hot shower afterwards was all the more amazing for the 5hrs getting soaked in the rain!
Hi Scotland, you're amazing... Getting some mega Quality Mountain Days in up here!
More mountains, more navigation, more rain & more AMAZING rainbows 🌈.... I think this one was the best I've ever seen!
Out all day hiking in the rain, go for a swim... the sun comes out 🤷♀️ Spent the day working on navigation with @the_adventure_school - who had to leave before the team swim apparently!!
Walking in the wild country is amongst the most popular of all leisure activities, and for good reason. The combination of fresh air, open vistas, hearty exercise and adventurous exploration is a heady mix, all the more enjoyable if shared with others. Yesterday's mix of rain, sunshine, hail, wind, rope work & micro navigation was so much more enjoyable with these guys! Hiking in & around Cwm Llan, Snowdonia, N Wales. #mountainleadertraining
Amazing to think that if I'd got here earlier (400million years ago, before the erosion) these mountains would have been 7000m tall! Mountain Leader training in Snowdonia, never a dry day it seems, but look at that rainbow!
This morning we hiked to take off through the clouds & waited for the sun to hit & the temperature inversion to lift. Then we flew home for breakfast...
The forecast said clear skies, full sunshine & very little wind... it didn't mention the temperature inversion! Our plan to 'hike & fly' looked like it was going to be a 'hike & hike back down'. Coming up through the clouds & being above them was spectacular.
These trainers were made for running!
... So, reminded of this at 11pm last night I looked at the weather forecast and conditions were perfect for an early morning Hike & Fly. I had intended to be sat at my laptop working at 9am but if I made take off by 9am I could be at my laptop by 9.30am, 10am at the latest. I spoke to my boss (me) and we made a deal, work by 10am!... Hi Monday! Seems like Summer is over then... Apparently meteorologists believe summer summer ended on Thursday, August 31 and autumn began on Friday, September 1. But astronomers say summer ends on September 21, in the northern hemisphere, and autumn begins the following day. I however think snow is a pretty good indicator that the season is changing!
