Guys, there’s so much more to wedding photography than what meets the eye. SO.MUCH.MORE. To give you a basic idea here it is: • •Experience: It’s not for newbies •Camera & Equipment: You can’t go cheap. I have well over $15,000 worth of equipment and yes, it’s insured •Science: It’s so important to know the lighting throughout the day, direction of the sun when posing people, and geography of surrounding areas •Posing: You have to act like a director to help your sweet couples look their best in front of the camera (this requires experience and training) •Coordination: To plan out a photography timeline for wedding days “He who fails to plan, plans to fail every time.” •Personality: Friendliness and thoughtfulness goes a long way •Organization: An organized workflow is essential for meetings, bookings, payments, and everything in between •Bookkeeping: For obvious reasons throughout the year and when it’s tax season (this requires a legit booking interface) •Editing & Computer Skills: To edit images on an editing system to your style (mine is joyful, classy, & lovely) and to know your way around the technical side (saving, storing, emailing, etc.) •Graphic & Design: For social media skills and website design •Marketing: To let others know you’re out there and to reach your sweet brides •Innovation: To always find ways to make your experience & work better •Grit: To push through wedding days with barely any potty breaks and long nights editing and to always give your brides the best experience • So in a nutshell, there it is! I love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for the world but there’s so much more to it than just picking up a camera. And this 5’2, small town, coffee lover, runner wannabe, momma of 2, fashionably uncoordinated gal is learning a thing or two about it. 😉💁🏻
Walking into a brand new week like ✨ And for today’s Monday Motivation here’s something to stop and think about: • “There are people less qualified than you doing the things you want to do simply because they decide to believe in themselves. Period.” • Guys, isn’t this good?! So that goal you have in your mind and that dream in your heart: you CAN do it! Whether it’s a health goal for this week (I plan-not hope-but plan to go to the gym 4x this week) or a business plan for your career, believe that you can. Plan like you can. But also, don’t forget to work like you can. Here’s to having a good week y’all! ❤️Aura
FEAR >> Let’s make a cup of coffee and talk fear for a little bit. It’s something we tend to think others deal with but not us. We’re supposed to be strong and brave and daring in everything we do and if we fear, it’s a weakness. But what if you don’t intend to fall into fear? What if sometimes it just sneaks up on you and grips your heart without you ever intending it to happen? ✨ To be honest, sometimes fear sneaks in and grips my heart in many areas with one of them being photography. Especially photography. Sometimes it paralyzes me to the point where I don’t post for periods of time and even doubt what I do. It’s the fear of not being good enough in this industry when everyone else is amazing. The fear of hitting pause this spring because I’m adding a child to our family. The fear of not being relevant because I’m a small town girl, fashionably uncoordinated, and a mom, of all things. ✨ But recently someone said something that I‘ve been chewing on lately: “Starve your fear and feed your faith.” And I know it’s easier said than done but I have to focus on my faith and the future rather than my fear and doubts. Just like anything, it’s a choice. Give in to fear or focus on faith. So today, I choose faith. Faith that this dream and desire is something God-given. Faith that although it’s a saturated market, I’m the only Aura Elizabeth out there who, as quirky as I am, has a group of brides out there who love her style and work. And faith that I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do. So friends, here’s to starving our fears and feeding our faith! ✨
Happy Valentine’s Day from me and my Valentine to you! ❤️ Here’s a little behind the scenes of what our story looks like: 1️⃣ This May will be 9 years of marriage for us! It’s so crazy how time flies! ⏰ 2️⃣ He’s your typical SoCal adventure boy and I’m your Midwest small town cautious girl. 🤷🏻♀️ 3️⃣ We dated for 9 months, were engaged for 5 months, then got married! 👰🏻 (I know, kinda crazy huh?!) 4️⃣ He’s the patient, calm, confident type and I’m your typical let’s get things done now type of girl. It’s actually a really good balance. 5️⃣ He’s a man’s man with the kindest of hearts, a playful and involved father, a faithful sports lover for the teams that tend to always lose, and I’m so thankful to be sharing this life right by his side! So girls, if you’re getting ready to say ‘I Do’ know that it only gets better and sweeter over time! 📸: @katrinajaynephoto
Sent my brides a little pick me up this past weekend because y’all, this whole bride-ing thing is not as easy as it looks! 👰🏻 And I totally get it. I said my ‘I Do’s’ just 10 days after I finished college while taking 21 credits and working and planning a wedding that last semester so yes, the struggle was so real. 😬😅 But I married the man of my dreams, enjoyed a great time off during our honeymoon in Cancun, and survived to tell about it so it was all worth it! Brides, make sure you take time to get away, have some quiet time, and enjoy this memorable time of your life. It goes by so fast but it’s so very special!
Walking into the weekend with your squad. 💁🏻 . Guys, this is the last weekend before Valentine’s Day so now would be a good time to get that sweetheart of yours a gift before you run out of time and panic and have to get the first random gift you find. (Not that I’ve been there or anything like that.🙈) You know, just throwing that reminder out there to serve you better. 😂
