Happy Easter! ✝️
Genny and I were up as the sun was rising, showing us all the beautiful, dewy webs and flowers in our yard. All the rain recently has caused our yard to grow quickly, but I’m going to be a bit sad to mow it- the flowers are (almost) worth the long weeds!
Fascination by a spider wrapping up a shield bug caught in his web. While it’s super cool, I’m just glad it’s not inside the house. 🤢
Scarlet’s birthday was on March 17th, and at 7:00am April 4th, I finally made her birthday sign and snapped a quick picture 🤦♀️🥳 While I wish 2 could have stayed around longer, I can see 3 being a big year for Scarlet! She is still very much a toddler in that she runs everywhere, naps, and follows her big sisters wherever they go...but she is quickly growing up into a little girl who dresses herself, “helps” in the kitchen, and rides her trike like she’s been doing it all her life. 😘
8 weeks to 7 months. 😳😍
Brent built me a picnic table, and I’m so happy to have somewhere to do life- outside! Hoping for many school days and meals to be centered around this table 😊 It just so happened that the ice-cream truck came around this afternoon, so the kids enjoyed a treat on the new table in celebration!
My Friday is slow and steady, and probably more lazy than it needs to be. I’m reading a new book, and the laundry needs to be folded (going on three days?). Jordyn is satisfying her little-girl love of small things and dolls by playing with our old paper dolls. The book, Little Britches, will be a great read-aloud with the kids, and I know I’ll enjoy reading it again! Genny was “exercise girl” at lunchtime, and sneaked this selfie, which I love. Calvin tried on his new swim shorts and has also discovered how fun it is to see the world upside-down.
Scarlet is 3! Hasn’t she been around longer than that? Sometimes it is hard to imagine a time when she was not around! She’s funny, independent, and the epitome of all-things toddler: spinning in circles, jumping, running everywhere, eating candy, and taking cheesy pictures. We love to kiss your cheeks and tickle you till you’re out of breath from laughing so hard 🥰 Happy Birthday!
I know I should make it a practice to get up before the kids, but 6am comes quickly. So snatches of devotions or good reading happens in the breakfast hustle as the sun comes up...this morning I get to pore over the Forma quarterly (#formajournal), specifically the Anthony Esolen interview...good stuff! Also...I am now adding several more books to my ever-growing “must read” books. There’s just not enough time in the day (well, life in general)!
So besides homeschooling, reading, and traveling, one of my other odd hobbies is dog sports. It’s ok if you think that’s weird, most likely do 😂😆 I love my well-bred dog and love even more that we can do things together, with the very, very foundation of that being AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy. Basically, puppy kindergarten, haha. Here he is with his little medal 🏅 He is *almost* like my 5th child. I say almost, because I will always heartily disagree that dogs are like kids. I have 4 real kids, I know the difference, ha!
Calvin is now One year old! My heart is so sad that my last baby is growing quickly out of the baby phase. He’s a crawler, climber, yeller, and the most ticklish person I’ve ever met. Love you, Cal! ❤️
Clear off the plates and lunch things off the table, kids! Momma got her first issue of the Common Place Quarterly, complete with swag and a long note. I need space to read and nourish my mothering and homeschooling soul! 🌲 #commonplacequarterly
Me, with my morning coffee. And late-morning, lunch, and afternoon coffee as well. ☕️
Out of all the kids, she’s the one that looks most like me 🥰
11 months + 1 day! Excited to celebrate turning ONE next month! I slacked off taking monthly photos for months 8, 9, and 10...but here we are, finishing strong 😁
