I grew up with a learning disability. Yup, not something many know about me and very strange for me to actually share, but I think you'll see why at the end of this. For the majority of my elementary school days, I had special classes outside my classmates. I took longer to read and comprehend. So from 2nd to 5th grade, I was different. Outside the other kids and their learning. While I wasn't treated much differently, I felt like an outsider. I left class to go to my special class. Not many knew where I went. I would get the occasional snicker and questions. But mainly it was in my head. As I went through middle school, I had special accommodations to allow me extra time for testing. I was not special just didn't test well and needed more time to understand what I was being quizzed on. Throughout high school I got decent grades but only ONE university accepted me. Honors, decent SAT scores (which I had to get tutoring for), and lots of extracriculars, landed me one school to choose from and of course it was out of state. To go along with not being chosen for a society in college, these little yet significant instances in my story have an impact on how I see myself and if I fit in. I say all of this because nothing we get in life is easy. It takes work. Some find school easy but for most it takes dedication and work. Work that requires tears and sweat. But that is what sets us up for LIFE. Life, friends isn't easy by any means and for what we want to go after, we must work for it. Life isn't about being special, but it is about owning your story, the journey and the struggle. Owning the bumps in the road and the hurtles you overcame. Without the extra attention to learning and the opportunities I was given to overcome my learning disabilities, I wouldn't have gotten where I am today. . So promise me this, don't let the forks in the road stop your journey. Push through. It won't be easy but nothing worth fighting for is ever easy. . What have you overcome from your childhood that has made you better today because of it?

It’s in the details that character is born yet sometimes we yearn for dreams and waste too much time on wanting whats next! . I dream of a house by the sea. A house close to the ocean so I can walk frequently. But with that comes an ungodly price tag. One of which we could never afford. But I find myself constantly looking for a new house. A bigger house, a house in neighborhoods I want to live in, even houses in our dream home, OBX. But in doing this often, I am doing a deservice to myself in the current season we are in. Alwasy dreaming and wanting more takes a toll on living in the present. Soaking in all the gifts we are given and appreciating the current page to our story. While we all strive to grow in life, perhaps we need to slow down, embrace the current season, and stop dreaming of more. . Who looks at Trulia far too much? Can anyone relate? I think I should just delete the app. . #souloftheseaprintshop #efcoastal #saltlife #beachliving #coastalliving #beachlife #coastaldetails #liveinthenow #lovetheseasonyouarein #virginiabeachphotographer #outerbanksphotographer
