Mohamad Alali As a child, Mohamad used to always ask for a bicycle, but his wish never came true. Fast-forward to today, he has participated in the Lebanese Cycling Championship and won for 7 years in a row. Mohamad used to work in a company in Kuwait. One day, he decided to go for the adventure of a lifetime: cycling through the Mediterranean. He quit his job to pursue his dream and planned to travel through 12 countries, 3 continents, and bike 12000 KM for more than 4 months. The journey cost more than 30,000 USD: he needed to raise funds. Unable to gather support from private companies, he sought out the embassies of the countries he was passing through. In a press conference, his passion and vision got him the support he needed. Starting from Alexandria – Egypt, his journey lasted 7 months and 20 days. Now, Mohamad is coaching the ABILITY PROGRAM by Beirut Marathon, which consists of 24 Para-athletes in both Tripoli and Beirut. His passion and love for adventure help him push the athletes harder and make them more eligible to cross the Finish line and break their own records. He is a true inspiration. #runbeirut #beirutmarathon #abilityprogram #superabled

Give you run a higher meaning by dedicating it to 1 of 195 NGO partners❤️ ————————-/ Today’s #givingTuesday is dedicated to @lamsalebanon , and here’s the story written by the co-founder Dr. Moukarzel. ———————— “I am a mother first! And I know when a mother suffers.. Lamsa’s journey began at the Intensive care unit, where I dealt with cases of young people who got admitted for substance abuse, overdose and suicide attempts **** Besides the visible pain of the patients, there was another kind deemed invisible to the eye, the silent pain of the mothers. ————————— ——————————Drawing on my own experience, I realized that the best way to deal with my adolescents is by providing a touch of kindness, a touch of compassion, a hug, a smile. ————— After all, We as human beings need a touch of empathy, to know that someone cares enough, with no judgement, no agenda, no rules… only love. ______________________________________ In 2014 I founded LAMSA, which means “ TOUCH” in Arabic, with 3 other friends and colleagues. The mission gradually shifted to focus on awareness and education. _______________________________ We are now developing a new online platform by the Youth for the Youth. Students will be writing and delivering evidence-based information using the language of empathy and compassion. The youth are volunteer students from @aub_lebanon , LU and @haigazianuniversity . @lebamericanuni will also be joining this initiative. ____________________________ I hope this platform becomes a tool to raise questions, trigger conversations about mental health and provide solutions for our youth. —————————————————————— KNOWLEDGE allows for early intervention, and eventually this can save a life, many many lives... ———————————————— Join us in running for a LAMSA of positivity, energy, happiness, support and understanding ————-/ You can reach out on our instagram page @lamsalebanon #runbeirut
