Some of my favorites memories from Alaska last year. This was such a fun & active trip with kayaking, fly fishing, rock climbing, hiking -- so much to do! .... I thought this #throwbackthursday was appropriate, as we head out on Saturday for another adventure. I love this quote, because it reminds you of the different facets to being successful. It's not just natural talent or even hard work. .... You need all three to be balanced -- which leads to success. And not just in running, but in everything you do. .... 👇 Which one are you working in most right now? .... For me, I'm working mostly on attitude. On being more positive when things get tough. One of those things i'm good at helping others with, but not as good myself.
Scenes from this morning's run. I was sleeping so well, I didn't want to get up for a run -- but views like this made it very worthwhile. ... The ruins I found at my turnaround point are from an old Franciscan monastery. A very cool surprise and I shared a video with more of the ruins in my Insta Story. ... While I love trail running most, exploring on a run when I travel is a close second. And I have lots of places to see over the next few weeks!!! ... 👇What is the best place you have run recently?
What message are you telling yourself? ... ❌I'm NOT good at hills ❌I'm too slow ❌I'll probably fall ❌I'm NOT good at... ... These words hurt your progress - even if you don't est then out loud. So let's change the words we use when things get tough in whatever you're working on. ... ⭐I'm getting stronger every step ⭐I'm getting faster ⭐Smooth & steady ⭐I'm good at... ... I've been reminded of this recently from @karagoucher's book (Strong) and making a point to repeat the positive statements when the negative pops in my head. Because it happens thi all of us!! ... 👇What is a positive statement you need to tell yourself more often?
WARRIOR DASH 2018!!! My second obstacle course race & first Warrior Dash. This is the muddiest I have ever been for sure! ... Here's how this one works: 5K trail/cross-country course with 12 obstacles. Crawling through rocky mud pits under barbed wire, scaling wooden walls with ropes or just your hands, sliding on your back, or crossing water pits on floating crates -- fun & crazy stuff. ... This was much shorter than the Tough Mudder we did last hear -- less than 50 minutes to complete the full course. And the final crawl through the mud pit is how we ended up covered in so much mud!! ... 👇Have you done an OC race like this (tell me your favorite!)? Would you like to try one if not?
I can't believe how long it took me to join the Friday Trail Run group. And how much I look forward to it each week now. ... Okay, that's not entirely true. I know I don't like early mornings & that's why it took me so long. 🤣 ... I'm glad @Sarahvfeinberg kept pushing me to get up early to join -- especially with views like this. It's ridiculous that this is in my backyard!! ... 👇What's one thing that it took a while for you to do, that you now really enjoy??
