I am so excited about these last several Honeybee designs that I haven't shown you yet! I hope you like them. . For this next collection release, I am going to have it earlier in the day to try to accommodate those of you who live in other time zones. I received so many messages from people for whom 7pm EST is in the wee hours of the morning. A handful of you are on the exact other side of the world, how amazing!! . That being said, what is the best time of day (in my time zones, EST) for a shop update for you? I dont know the date yet, but it will be a Sunday in April. So please call out your preferred time (in EST) below so I can know when to schedule it.
As I mentioned yesterday, it has been bittersweet seeing the last of my citrines find their way into silver. My citrine drawer is nearly empty, as the last of these little gobs of summer honey wait on my bench. - I have 7 or 8 brand new designs coming up, the last of the honeybee pieces I wasn't able to finish for the last collection release. (I am always far too optimistic when it comes to how much I am able to finish in a short amount of time!) - As each of the gemstones makes their way into rings and necklaces, I decided to keep just one for myself. One perfect little Apiary Ring to charm the bees with. - I know that these rings are a design many of you are excited to try to scoop up in the next release, I am so glad you like them! I have collected in a dish every last citrine that is the right size for these, I want to make as many as possible before moving on. They sit so well upon the hand, and I am convinced they can call the honeybees from their hives. If you have your heart set on one, I hope you are able to claim one!
Thank you to everyone who weighed in on my last post. There were so many good suggestions and points made. I think if/when I transition away from Etsy, it will be a little at a time and I will start with smaller collections. The last of the bees will be on Etsy, I especially don't want any confusion or glitches for that update! - That being said, do you like these Solitary Bee necklaces? This is the first of the bee designs that I wasn't able to complete in time for the last update. Little worker bees gathering up the warmth of summer into a honeycomb cell's worth of citrine. One of the lightweight, everyday designs for this next (and final, I swear) honeybee update. - It is bittersweet seeing the last of my citrines finding their way into silver. Soon the little drawer where I have kept my horde, which took several years to collect, will be completely empty. It is a joy to know these gemstones will all be out in the world though, sitting atop hands while they are immortalizing a magnolia in watercolor, resting against sternums while baking the first blueberry pies of summer, encircling wrists that are flinging sticks for jubilant puppies. I hope they bring as much joy to you as they have me in the making. - And I especially want to thank those who assured me that you would find my work and claim my pieces wherever they end up, Etsy or otherwise. Your support allows me to continue this little art of mine, and it means everything. You are the deftness in my hands and food in my kitty bowls!
For the past several months I have been working behind the scenes on a shop to integrate right into my website. Ever since Etsy started taxing buyers on shipping fees (???), I have felt the need to move away from Etsy. I am thinking of keeping Etsy for my made to order pieces, and releasing all of my limited collections and ready to ship pieces on my website. - But I have a few concerns, mainly that it will be slow for you guys because you will have to enter all your shipping/billing information on the nights of shop updates, whereas with Etsy if you have an account it is much quicker. Secondly, I am not sure how well a webstore will handle big shop updates. (You know me, I get a bit carried away with collections sometimes!) And I fear it being glitchy. - A few years ago I tried a store on the website, but had issues on shop update night that sent me sprinting back to Etsy. (Some of you might remember, it was for my most recent Undine collection.) - But the upside is that my collections will be easier to navigate (and not buried under made to order listings) and you wont have additional, unnecessary charges. - But what do you think? Do you prefer the ease of Etsy? Are you annoyed with Etsy's additional taxes and fees? Would it be easier for you to find the work I share here if it were separate from the Made to Order listings? Would you mind having to enter shipping/payment information on shop update nights? Would it be too slow? I would love your thoughts!
