One of my favorite professors in college would always tell us, Don't should on yourself. It always made us giggle, but the point of that sentiment has always stuck with me. Don't hammer yourself with shoulds but rather tell yourself what you will do, won't do, can do, etc. Saying I should... or I know I shouldn't... not only brings on the self-guilt, but it is not constructive. It's not an absolute. It gives you an easy out. It's an excuse. So today, I am going to do something fun and extra with my littlest boys. Because they're only little for a short time and these days are precious. I'm not taking on one ounce of guilt about what I should be doing. Because there's always something else. So, tell me, friends, what are you absolutely going to do today that will help you ignore the shoulds?
Was going through past weddings today, updating this and that. Pretty sure this one will never get old. 😍
Have you read any good books lately? I'd love to know what you're reading! We've basically resigned ourselves to the fact that at this point in our lives, with 4 crazies running around, that the only books we actually have time to sit down and read have more pictures than words. 😂 So, we've been using @audible_com for about a year now, and we totally love it!! I recently finished a book called Switch on Your Brain. Sooo good if you've ever struggled with anxiety, depression, worry, or stress. Also took in books like The @magnolia Story, Present Over Perfect, and Love Does. 📚 Over on the blog today, we're sharing about this and two other apps that keep us sane in this life of business ownership (and parenting). Working has been a bit different around here lately, and we're not mad about it! I recently traded in my laptop for an #ipadpro with a fun pencil and keyboard. It has taken some adjustment, but we're humming right along. Also, we've recently made a back-end change over to @honeybook for our client management, and while that also is taking some adjustment, we're LOVING the heart behind HoneyBook and their commitment to creative collaboration. If you're a creative entrepreneur, you need to check them out!! Finally, got my hands on this pink lady last night, as my trusty #iphone6 finally bit the dust. Ugh. Not a purchase we were planning on, but she sure is a beaut! Being a #creativeentrepreneur has changed our lives: how we see our world, our family, finances, stuff, and God. It is a life we didn't expect, but somehow answers what we've always wanted. #WeAreTheCreativeEconomy @risingtidesociety
Happy Monday! What is on your to-do list today? We've got some exciting things coming up in the next couple weeks, and today we're heading to Scottsdale to scout an amazing house for our next round of #The❤️Sessions! Keep an eye on our stories for a sneak peek! Also, if you're a business owner and finding yourself a bit overwhelmed with the idea of using video in your social media and marketing efforts, we're hosting a FREE mini workshop night next week! Spots are filling quickly, so if that sounds interesting to you, head over to @thelikesessions for the link to sign up!
Sometimes it is easy to forget that hate and fear are synonymous. That love takes them down and makes them powerless. There are fearful, hateful people in this world, all over the planet. But there is love, too. How can you be love today? Fear is a powerful liar, but love is powerful truth. Let's be love, friends.
