My heart is FULL. :::::::: This weekend, I hosted my first dinner in about two years. It was magical and fulfilling and I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring people together. To create community. To arrive as strangers and leave as friends. I will be sharing lots more words and photos soon!!! :::::::: This dinner was in collaboration with @sundaysuppers as part of their new #sobremesabysundaysuppers dinner series. The menu was spectacular, and I just ADORE the meaning of SOBREMESA. The best English word I can come up with is LINGER. Basically, community that happens around the table after dinner is over. #sobremesaforever :::::::: AND I CANNOT WAIT for my next event! I’m dreaming up a type of event I’ve NEVER EVER DONE BEFORE! Make sure you sign up to JOIN THE ADS COMMUNITY via the link in my profile so you don't miss out - this last dinner sold out in 14 hours! :::::::: A HUGE THANK YOU to my tribe who made this dinner possible, without whom this dinner literally would not have happened: @paulabphoto : PHOTOS // @wld_wst : MUTED FIESTA STRUCTURE DESIGN // @popculturecraftpops : AGUA FRESCA & PALETAS // @abigailgallopphoto @christinasymo @lblack.liberty @rivera.rach : KITCHEN FAIRIES // @appaloosapaintingco : HUSBAND, MUSCLES, TRAILER LOADER AND DRIVER, TREE CLIMBER, AIR CONDITIONING FIXER, ETC.
Front porch coffee and swings with my Nay Nay before the rest of the house wakes up. One of my favorite parts of life, ever! There’s a slight breeze and the sun is peeking out from the trees. We chat, she swings, we’re together. It’s glorious. I used to dread the kids waking up SO early, but I’m trying to cherish this one-on-one time together. Grateful for a porch that provides this SHELTER!
More of this luscious bowl ON THE BLOG today, featuring @wegmeyerfarms strawberries and fresh-from-my-garden baby greens. Strawberry season is over for those of us in Northern VA, but we have so many other yummy things now, like cherries, and tomatoes will be here oh-so-soon!!!! 🍒🍅 :::::::: On my stories yesterday, I announced (aka, I was sitting on my bed, folding laundry, and came up with an idea, so I shared it with y'all on my stories) a new blog series. YOU GUYS LOVED IT and this makes me soooo excited! The series will be called HOW DO YOU, and we'll be asking creatives/moms/business owners/anyone questions like HOW DO YOU...meal plan/garden/do laundry/shop for clothes/ETC. We'll be chatting nitty, gritty details. And I'm stoked! I've been brainstorming for the series today, making lists of questions and people to interview (#allthelists). I'm always intrigued by how other people tackle the more mundane areas of life, and cannot wait to learn and share with you all! AND I'm tossing around the idea of turning it into a podcast (thanks to a suggestion from @yettanother). Would you listen to this podcast? What topics would you want to learn about? Who would you want to be interviewed (in a blog series and/or in a podcast)? TELL ME ALL YOUR THOUGHTS!
Mommy’s and Zoe’s. From yesterday’s roadside foraging. Pro-tip: keep scissors/shears/loppers in your car so you’re ready to forage at a moments notice. :::::::: On a different note, RAISE your hand if you can't live without your lists! 🙋🏼♀️ I have a love-hate relationship with lists. I keep lists literally everywhere - Alexa, google docs, email drafts, phone notes, text messages, my head, REAL notebooks, Trello, Asana, side of fridge, random post-it notes. You name it, I've probably made a list out of it or on it. I wish there was a way to sync all my lists and organize them neatly in my brain. I need a list manager 🤪 :::::::: I sat down last night and made a list of things - personal and professional - that need to be completed by June 25, and my head started spinning. So, I started making another list. Ahahahahaha. And the cycle continues. :::::::: For now, I'm sitting on my porch soaking up this morning drizzle (downpour), savoring my cup of @cordialcoffee, waiting for the rest of the kids to wake up (of course my cuddle buddy Naomi is by my side), and making today's list, which includes thrilling things like folding 5+ loads of laundry, wiping down the bathrooms, and doing something fun with the kids that doesn't involve being outside (because, RAIN). Happy Monday!!!!
#🏡 June is here, the MUCH-ANTICIPATED “flier-flies” have arrived, and summer is almost officially here! In Virginia this often looks like bright mornings giving way to clouds and magnificent thunderstorms later in the day, and evenings heavy with the aroma of summer. It means the best of the farmer’s market produce is returning (garlic scapes, cherries, and tomatoes, oh my!), long days, and if you’re like me, plenty of time spent outdoors. It means the tan lines are re-appearing on our sandaled feet, and we couldn’t be happier about it! :::::::: Where are you finding shelter? I’d love to see your place of rest; do share a photo and tag me so I can see it and pretend to be there with you! :::::::: As I anticipate the storms (and am in the midst of; it’s raining as I type, and it has been for weeks, it seems) and the warmth, I look forward to SHELTER. In the hot sun and the tumultuous storms, shelter brings with it the ideas of rest, and summer calm. :::::::: This porch is my favorite place to find and provide shelter during these summer days. It’s welcomed many, provided much-needed shade, hosted gatherings. I’m so grateful for our porch, the home of #frontporchdinners and #coworkingontheporch
My heart, frowns and all. Thank you to the stranger who offered to take this picture of me and my three babes. It’s my faaaavorite. . . This is from yesterday’s @bloominghilllavenderfarmlet lavender festival. Well DEFINITELY be back for more lavender. Not sure why or how this was our first visit to this farm, which is basically in our backyard. . . Also, a lavender festival felt like THE MOST appropriate time to wear our matching @ryleeandcru x @anthropologie dresses/skirt! Now I wanna match them forever and ever!
Happy Friday! ON THE BLOG TODAY: I'm talking about this @vettacapsule jumpsuit (you need it), postpartum fashion (and what no one tells you), and my goal/aim in sharing more of my personal style. Did you have any rude postpartum fashion awakenings? I'm being real honest with you today, so please share your secrets so I don't feel so bad ;) 🖤 My two biggest insta fashion inspos: @double3xposure + @madelynnfurlong. . . In other news, we're headed to the @bloominghilllavenderfarmlet lavender festival today. Prepare to see lots of pretty lavender photos. LOTS. Hope to see you there! 💜 . . If you missed my Coffee Conversations InstaLive yesterday (every Thursday at 3:30 pm), you can still catch it on my story for a few more hours. We chatted all about the NEW Instagram Algorithm, what factors come into play, and how I'm trying to beat it // accept it. What are YOUR thoughts? . . Have a wonderful weekend! Honeysuckle is everywhere right now! You should definitely go foraging and then make some honeysuckle syrup and then add it to some soda water (virgin) or a vodka tonic (my personal favorite)! Get the recipe on my blog, link in profile!! I love keeping a bottle of honeysuckle syrup in the fridge this time of year. What’s your favorite drink? . . You guys! I’m on a social HIGH (haha!)! I had my first ever #coworkingontheporch today and then I had weekly InstaLive@Coffee Conversations today at 3:30, and I’m feeling so connected to you guys! I love Instagram (new algorithm and all)! P.S. that’s what we talked about today on Coffee Conversations, so if you’re curious, go give it a watch. It’ll be there for 24 hours! . . What’s your FAVORITE and LEAST FAVORITE aspects of Instagram!? What keeps you coming back? What keeps you from checking in?! I’m curious!! (Photo by @morningslikethese)
Get in my mouth. All of you. Today’s breakfast cheeseboard turned into dinner. A breakfast cheeseboard for dinner. Nothing wrong with that, eh?!
Wow you guys! It's SUCH a gorgeous day outside today! We've already been camped out on our porch for 2 hours this morning, and I don't see us leaving anytime soon. I wanted to share a few things with you on this lovely day, and since I love lists, here’s a list 📋 . . 1️⃣. Have you tuned into my weekly InstaLive Coffee Conversations yet? ☕️ Every Thursday at 3:30pm EST (12:30pm PST), we have a virtual coffee break together (in my kitchen) to chat about anything and everything. Head over to my stories NOW to cast your vote for tomorrow's topic! Coffee Conversations has become a highlight of my week...! . . 2️⃣. You may have noticed I've been talking and asking (and surveying) a lot about hosting and gatherings. ✨ I'm working on some really, really awesome content for you (I don't want to share tooooo much yet, but here's a hint: 🎥). If you haven't already, take a minute and look at my “Do You Host story highlight right up there ⬆️, and if you'd like, share your responses with me. The answers I've received so far have been SO wonderful and informative as I develop this content! 📝 . . 3️⃣. I've been falling in love all over again with my front porch. 🏡 Tomorrow, I'm hosting my first-ever #coworkingontheporch event, where I invited other local business owners over for a day of working together. Hoping to provide a place of rest and at least SOME productivity! If you're local and you'd like to know about future dates, let me know! 🖤 . . 4️⃣. There's a 💜lavender💜 festival tomorrow in Purcellville at @bloominghilllavenderfarmlet and I understand it's going to be pretty magical. Will I see you there? . . 5️⃣. I think that's it for now 🤔 I'm off to shoot a breakfast cheese board, then indulge in my breakfast cheese board, and then chill with my kids all day, probably on the front porch 😉 . .
