• My heart is FULL. :::::::: This weekend, I hosted my first dinner in about two years. It was magical and fulfilling and I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring people together. To create community. To arrive as strangers and leave as friends. The menu was spectacular, and I just ADORE the meaning of SOBREMESA. The best English word I can come up with is LINGER. Basically, community that happens around the table after dinner is over. #sobremesaforever :::::::: AND I CANNOT WAIT for my next event! I’m dreaming up a type of event I’ve NEVER EVER DONE BEFORE! We chat, she swings, we’re together. It’s glorious. I used to dread the kids waking up SO early, but I’m trying to cherish this one-on-one time together. Grateful for a porch that provides this SHELTER!

Strawberry season is over for those of us in Northern VA, but we have so many other yummy things now, like cherries, and tomatoes will be here oh-so-soon!!!! 🍒🍅 :::::::: On my stories yesterday, I announced (aka, I was sitting on my bed, folding laundry, and came up with an idea, so I shared it with y'all on my stories) a new blog series. YOU GUYS LOVED IT and this makes me soooo excited! The series will be called HOW DO YOU, and we'll be asking creatives/moms/business owners/anyone questions like HOW DO YOU...meal plan/garden/do laundry/shop for clothes/ETC. We'll be chatting nitty, gritty details. And I'm stoked! I've been brainstorming for the series today, making lists of questions and people to interview (#allthelists). I'm always intrigued by how other people tackle the more mundane areas of life, and cannot wait to learn and share with you all! AND I'm tossing around the idea of turning it into a podcast (thanks to a suggestion from @yettanother). Would you listen to this podcast? What topics would you want to learn about? Pro-tip: keep scissors/shears/loppers in your car so you’re ready to forage at a moments notice. :::::::: On a different note, RAISE your hand if you can't live without your lists! 🙋🏼‍♀️ I have a love-hate relationship with lists. I keep lists literally everywhere - Alexa, google docs, email drafts, phone notes, text messages, my head, REAL notebooks, Trello, Asana, side of fridge, random post-it notes. You name it, I've probably made a list out of it or on it. I wish there was a way to sync all my lists and organize them neatly in my brain. I need a list manager 🤪 :::::::: I sat down last night and made a list of things - personal and professional - that need to be completed by June 25, and my head started spinning. So, I started making another list. Ahahahahaha. And the cycle continues. :::::::: For now, I'm sitting on my porch soaking up this morning drizzle (downpour), savoring my cup of @cordialcoffee, waiting for the rest of the kids to wake up (of course my cuddle buddy Naomi is by my side), and making today's list, which includes thrilling things like folding 5+ loads of laundry, wiping down the bathrooms, and doing something fun with the kids that doesn't involve being outside (because, RAIN). Happy Monday!!!!

  • #🏡 June is here, the MUCH-ANTICIPATED “flier-flies” have arrived, and summer is almost officially here! In Virginia this often looks like bright mornings giving way to clouds and magnificent thunderstorms later in the day, and evenings heavy with the aroma of summer. It means the best of the farmer’s market produce is returning (garlic scapes, cherries, and tomatoes, oh my!), long days, and if you’re like me, plenty of time spent outdoors. It means the tan lines are re-appearing on our sandaled feet, and we couldn’t be happier about it! :::::::: Where are you finding shelter? I’d love to see your place of rest; do share a photo and tag me so I can see it and pretend to be there with you! :::::::: As I anticipate the storms (and am in the midst of; it’s raining as I type, and it has been for weeks, it seems) and the warmth, I look forward to SHELTER. In the hot sun and the tumultuous storms, shelter brings with it the ideas of rest, and summer calm. :::::::: This porch is my favorite place to find and provide shelter during these summer days. It’s welcomed many, provided much-needed shade, hosted gatherings. I’m so grateful for our porch, the home of #frontporchdinners and #coworkingontheporch

This is from yesterday’s @bloominghilllavenderfarmlet lavender festival. Well DEFINITELY be back for more lavender. Not sure why or how this was our first visit to this farm, which is basically in our backyard. . . Also, a lavender festival felt like THE MOST appropriate time to wear our matching @ryleeandcru x @anthropologie dresses/skirt! Now I wanna match them forever and ever!
