If you’re American, you’re from one of four places—New York, California, Texas, or the US. Texans have a hell of a lot of pride, and we love supporting our state. . So, it’s incredibly lucky that one of Texas’s own distilleries, Balcones Distillery, puts out really incredible liquid. (Because it makes it more fun to support the locals when they’re actually making great products.) 🥃 . Balcones is celebrating its 10th anniversary by releasing special expressions throughout the summer and fall, and they are very special. My favorite so far (and by far) is Mirador. . Mirador is a nearly 110% proof whiskey that defies belief by being increeeeedibly smooth. Look for notes of pear, honey, green tea, and soft suede from this “Second Fill Barrel Malt Profile whisky” made with liquids aged 2-5 years. . 📸: @theaaronhendrickson @balconesdistillery #balconesdistillery #balcones #whiskey #texaswhiskey #wacotexas #waco
I already miss Texas. 🤠 . Yesterday I took off Albuquerque for a solid month to help my family with some fun things coming down the pike. I'll have the chance to do some short side trips here and there, so if you have any suggestions about where I should visit in New Mexico or Arizona, send them along! 🏜 . 🍹: Yellow Rose from @4Kahunas in Arlington, Texas #tikitime #tiki #tikicocktail #4kahunas
Ready to light this day on fire. 🔥 . Bowen House’s Drunken Monk made with Woody Creek Bourbon, Giffard Crème de Pêche, Yellow Chartreuse, cinnamon, and lemon.

You put the rum in the coconut and drink it all up. 🥥 . The street food in Cuba is really fresh and delicious. And incredibly cheap. (This coconut only cost me $1.50 ... and the rum was about the same. 😂) . . . #theresboozeinhere #susiedrinkscuba #wanderingboozehound #cuba #coconut#streetfood
After five days of endless daiquiris and mojitos, I was excited to get back to the basics last night!
Cheers to the weekend! . . . 📸: @absolutelyx #coppermakesitbetter #gardenofelyx #totc2018
I may have found my favorite place in Cuba ... and I may have visited it three days in a row. . Giant mojitos with fresh fruit, fresh seafood and tapas, and amazing hospitality made this a favorite. Make sure to visit their sister restaurant across the street, El Del Frente! . #susiedrinkscuba #wanderingboozehound #cuba #oreilly304
I conquered a fear in Cuba, so my new British friend, Joe, bought me a cocoloco. 🍹👉🏼🥥 #theresboozeinhere . . I took a few hours to visit a beach just outside Havana, Playa Del Este. The water was beautiful and clean, the sand was white, I didn’t get bitten by a shark, and it was a h2ll of a lot cheaper than a resort—think 12CUC (~$13) for a couple chairs, an umbrella, two beers, and my cocoloco! #susiedrinkscuba #wanderingboozehound #cuba #beachplease #beachtime #coconut #cocoloco #cubanbeach
Cuba has been ... eye opening. Throwing myself into the unknown where I hardly speak the language, don’t have ANY internet access, and hardly had time to plan my visit ... has been difficult (and rewarding). Oh, and I’m doing it alone. Stay tuned for my “Cuba for boozy dummies” posts after I return. I’ll help you navigate things better than I did. . 📸: @alfonsomugica #wanderingboozehound #susiedrinkscuba #cuba #hotelnationalcuba
I’m Havana-bound, so a traditional daiquiri seemed appropriate for the flight! . Yes, this is a daiquiri. No, it’s not frozen. The traditional daiquiri doesn’t even get close to a blender; this simple, three-ingredient cocktail is chilled with an extraordinary amount of shaking with ice. (Unfortunately, I had no luck achieving any sort of decent bubble structure at 10,000ft.) . TRADITIONAL DAIQUIRI 2oz rum 1oz fresh lime 0.5oz simple syrup . #wanderingboozehound #susiedrinkscuba #daiquiri #10000ftcocktails #milehighcocktailclub
Grab some bubbly and celebrate that 325 years ago today champagne was accidentally invented! 🍾 Back in 1693, Bendictine monk Dom Perignon couldn’t get rid of the bubbles in the wine he was making, so he tasted it. He said, “Come quickly! I am drinking the stars!”
