It’s our final day in Vancouver! We’re trying to explore as much of the city as possible within 10 hours (lol) while squeezing in the essentials... like Sephora...
I didn’t get a midnight kiss but I did get a £5 phone call back home. ✨
As a rule, I don’t suit hats. There is something about my head + nose that rejects them. But Canada is cold so I picked one up randomly (beige love) and WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT, something I can work with.
Writing about the previous year always fills me with dread. There’s something in me that really, really hates thinking back. Because I’m such a negative person, only the bad bits seem to stick out - and I want to repress all of that (I think this is why my memory sucks so bad..) But a few weeks ago my grandad asked me for a paragraph on what I’d gotten up to in 2018 for his Christmas newsletter, so obviously I had to draw upon SOMETHING a bit more positive for him. Make the relatives proud of their offspring, you know. I thought back, and shit, realised I’ve done a lot this year. I ended up writing him a really long email which he passed onto my (very) extended family... and it felt so wonderful to finally give myself a little pat for all the good I’ve managed to achieve this year. I feel like I’ve really grown and pushed myself. Not nearly as much as my 2018 resolutions hoped, but in different ways. I’m a bit preoccupied with trying to relax and NOT break any legs (see photo above) but a lengthy, cathartic blog post of the year is due sometime in January. Enjoy yourselves tonight, especially if it involves a sofa & snacks. ✨
Pit stop for a half pint (I don’t fancy my chances on the slopes with anything more). Note: haven’t fallen over just yet. Note note: glasses under goggles was an awful idea, they keep steaming up. I’m skiing blind. ⛷✨
I’m in CANADA !! So excited to ski for the first time in years! ☺️ We’re about 8 hours behind so after the flight and a long and lovely sleep (Jet-lag, who is she?) I’ve been offline for about 24 hours. Can’t believe nothing world shattering happened tbh
God tier: roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, a good gravy Well loved tier: parsnips, Yorkshire puds, stuffing Still good tier: turkey, greens Shit tier: cauliflower cheese Fight me
It’s a lot of pressure, being the family artist... THINGS I LEARNED: 1) You need Royal Icing to make little designs like this. 2) Impatience gets you nowhere. You need to ice an outline, let it dry and then fill in the shape or it flows over the sides. 3) Almond extract is nice in sugar cookies 4) Other family members should be allotted a limited number of cookies to do with what they will. Recipe: @buzzfeedtasty & @allrecipes Ingredients: @sainsburys (Royal icing, food colouring, golden stars, cookie ingredients)
FINAL CALL! I’m closing the shop on Friday, so if you have a student in your life who would appreciate some planning help, or maybe you’re just after something for the new year, get your orders in and they’ll be posted in time for Christmas! I also have a new range of keyrings, well loved tote bags and a couple of fun prints and notebooks too! 💝🤶🏻 SHOP: @sighh.co
