today I finally conquered the hem!!!! Thus, beer and olives #projectweddingdress #onholiday #lavidaloca #spain
thank you guys so much for the #projectweddingdress love yesterday! It's hugely exciting to see it so nearly finished! BUT*... the 'small' (massive) matter of the hem is making my brain hurt! Can you wise sewing people help??? It's a fitted bias skirt with court train, under a sheer circle overskirt, and we marked the hemline in front to match shoe height. However I cannot figure out how to level up the two back/train hems, because the circle skirt is so much wider, and it moves everywhere! How is it possible to hem it so it isn't shorter than the underskirt anywhere, nor too long (which it currently is, and looks very obvious and messy because sheer fabric)? I have spent HOURS trying to work out where the overskirt hem should fall and am still no closer to actually hemming!! Someone please tell me there's a magic trick to it... 😣 *there is ALWAYS a BUT 😩
took us ages to get the hem marked because OMG WUT LOOK AT THAT DRESS WE MADE <insert screams here>!!! There was about an hour of self congratulation before we got down to work 😂 Pretty much just finishing touches to go! #projectweddingdress
slowly but surely...! That's bodice + sleeve pieces (appliqued on), in case the shape looks odd. Getting there!
