This about sums up my Sunday mood. Don't shadows do the prettiest things sometimes?
These hot summer temperatures have me craving closer contact with the sea! I'm dreaming of driftwood strewn beaches and salt-scented breezes. Anyone else? When the temperatures rise do you head for the beach or straight for those cool mountain passes?
I LOVE when my couples write their own vows and use such an intimate statement to express their hearts and personality to each other. I always thought that I wanted to write my own vows, too, until I really started planning our ceremony. But somewhere through the process, I became enchanted by the fact that thousands of couples have promised these same words to each other. And isn't there a beautiful power in that? We ended up choosing traditional vows with a few modern twists and the point is that it was perfect for US. • Whether you write your own or choose traditional ones, I love when couples archive them in vow books, like Kelly & Ryan did. I imagine couples reading them on their anniversaries, promising all over again, and even the little fingers of children who may one day turn the pages, too. 💕
How can I ever describe how absolutely breathtaking this past week was? When I realized that I wasn't going to have any internet access on day 1 of my time in Alaska, I admit that I felt this terrible sinking sensation in my gut. What about all that carefully planned content that was going to go out while I was gone?? But, as always, I have to admit that the time away was the most heart-filling thing. • There was this surreal moment where I was holding a piece of calved ice from the Mendenhall Glacier that was at least 200+ years old. And the reality that I would never see this quickly changing landscape like this ever again set in. • There was kayaking a sea cove with my siblings. Sipping cider and smelling flowers in the market with my mom. Seeing the tail of a humpback whale crest the sea for the first time. Easy talks with my grandmother over breakfasts and dinners. The expression on Nolan's face every time I caught him staring out at the landscape. A million surreal moments that remind me to be here and present in every moment. And THAT'S a gift I can never describe.
Ok I'm curious, what kind of travel packer are you?? Normally I'm STRICTLY a carry-on only kind of gal if the trip is three weeks or less and consider myself to be a connoisseur of all thing packing hacks! But there are two things that trip me up: 👉Traveling somewhere cold (all those bulky sweaters!!), and 👉Traveling somewhere I've never been before. • Tomorrow I leave for a family trip to Alaska, which I've never been to before AND is cold enough I have to pack winter items. 😳 My full-sized-check-only suitcase that I haven't used in years is BURSTING with the effort of fitting all of Nolan and I's things and I may not be able to haul this thing through the Atlanta airport without fainting. 🙈 • So I want to know- are you a light packer or notorious for bringing everything in your closet? Know any packing hacks that I might not already be familiar with? Any favorite recs for Alaska? I'm all ears! 😘
