Have you ever bought paint and it turned out too shiny for your walls? I unfortunately did this past week, BUT I was able to correct it. This weeks DIY Friday is all about how to mattify gloss paint (yes, it's possible and very doable) instead of having to buy more paint. I shared the process earlier this week on my stories but if you missed it, check out my blog this week for the full paint hack 💪 #LowerTownApartment
Me - Should I trim this video? Robert - No. You can't. I present to you, a video too long thanks to parental guilt. This kid though 💕 #CoraCarberry
I found my dream home today. It's actually an Italian restaurant right now but that's okay, I'm sure they'll understand if I move us all in. You can find me twirling in that porch on the top floor singing all the songs from Hocus Pocus from now on. Okay bye.
You may have seen sneak peeks of Cora's high chair already in my stories; it was an old-school secondhand high chair full of character I found on Kijiji for a really good price, but it needed to be updated. I repainted it this weekend in black Rust-Oleum Tremclad paint and it is immediately so much easier to clean and so much more beautifuller. Now I want to paint ALL OF THE THINGS. More details on my blog this week! www.theinteriordiyer.com
I would compare our current stage of parenthood to that of trying to solve a rubix cube blindfolded. It turns out moving apartments, which I didn't think was that big a deal to a toddler, totally destroyed whatever form of bedtime routine we had going on. That, or it's finally occurred to Cora that she can HAVE A CHOICE IF SHE WANTS TO GO TO BED OR NOT 🍷 Almost a week of 2+ hours of hysterical, inconsolable screaming every night and I think we finally cracked how to get to her to put herself to sleep again, quietly. Don't even hand me a glass, I will drink straight from the bottle tonight thank you very much 🍷 Parenting is hard (but hysterically, inconsolably worth it).
We moved into our new #LowerTownApartment over the weekend! I shared a few pictures of it on the blog today and I might do another one of those walk throughs on my Instagram stories. If you want? Was my last one annoying though? I'm a bit hangry RN so I might do one in a bit 🍫
Luckily, confused looks run in the family ... Swipe to see our Halloween costume this year! ☝️👽📞
If you're looking for something good to watch tonight, I would strongly suggest you check out What We Do In The Shadows on Netflix. It's probably my most favourite movie ever. Ever. Because vampires. #NetflixStreamTeam
Happy Halloween from our new apartment! This is about Halloweeny as our apartment is going to get this year, but at the very least we'll be going trick-or-treating with Cora tonight. JUST WAIT AND SEE WHAT WE'RE DRESSING AS ☝️ ...
Throwback to Halloween last year, when Cora was just 11 days old 💀💕 Super spoopy baby. #CoraCarberry
One of the many features I love in our apartment is the original picture rails in the living and dining room - a functional feature I've loved the idea of since learning about them. Plus, they look fancy as hell. I did some research and ordered a few gold picture rails hooks that are a slightly modern take on the traditional hooks. As a person who is forever never knowing where to hang up pictures and doesn't like making a thousand holes in the walls, therefore I just won't hang anything up kind of person, I really CANNOT WAIT to use these. I'm going to look so sophisticated. #LowerTownApartment
TFW your eyes match the decor 👌 #JuniperAndToshi
My parents and brother are flying home to Dublin after spending 10 days with us to celebrate Cora's first birthday. It was so nice having them here with us, especially for them to see Ottawa in autumn and to be here and help us spoil Cora, despite her not really having a notion of what a birthday even is. You only turn one once! We managed to get a lot done (like visit Canadian Tire about 6 times), and other days we didn't do much at all (which was more than okay). This was the table I set for their first breakfast in Ottawa - waffles with strawberries, maple syrup (OBV) and Canadian bacon. I was proud of it considering we didn't even have a pot to cook with or a chair or even a mattress just 3 weeks previous. Though, it didn't look like this the whole time; the table was covered in its usual shite of random receipts, baby toys and half eaten fruit soon after. #LowerTownApartment
Our 'new' dark green velvet chaise lounge (from 1910) that I found second hand on Kijiji (the equivalent to Adverts.ie) for a crazy good price because a small piece of decorative wood is missing towards the bottom. But I'll just carve a piece for it, stick it on and lounge on it while watching Netflix with a beautiful drink in one hand and the other up to my elbow in a bag of chips 🍸 #LowerTownApartment
In today's Sunday @Independent.ie Property supplement you can find Cora's cheesy smile alongside a lovely piece by @nathaliemc about mom's who gather inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest, and have designed nurseries outside of 'pink and blue'. Thank you Nathalie for featuring us and Cora's old nursery; a room I'm very much missing these days (And thank you @yolenedabreteauphotography for snapping today's feature for me 🐃💕). Check us out on page 5! 📰 #CoraCarberry
11:24am on Thursday the 20th of October, 2016 - when Cora was born (but in reality, it was more like March before I got around to taking a photo of our clock showing her time and date, and I was hoping to share this yesterday on her actual birthday, but these babies can be a bit distracting).
Our clever little girl turns one today and now I know why parents are always saying how quickly time flies. If anyone finds where it went, please let me know 🍰 Happy birthday, my delicious little baby #CoraCarberry
Check my Instagram stories if you'd like to see a full tour of our new #LowerTownApartment! In case you can't watch them right now or the sound of my voice is like nails on a chalkboard, I also shared photos and details on my blog that you can read whenever you like.
