Is anyone else on an International Women’s Day hangover? 😍 Yesterday was out of control great in the best way. I loved all of the inspirational stories, quotes, and support I saw from so many women and feminists! (If you’re a man who thinks women deserve equality, you are a feminist, too, BTW!) ... Speaking of, in my IG stories yesterday, I shared my personal journey from being raised conservative Christian to learning how to be an independent thinking feminist who loves to travel alone and doesn’t feel the need to have kids. I also shared tips on how I’ve learned to live a more feminist life. So many people reached out to me after watching those stories to say positive things, including both men and women - It was incredibly uplifting. I hope you all had an equally fulfilling day 😊 ... Ok, it’s weekend time! Where are you in the world right now, and what is your favorite thing to do on a perfect weekend?
Happy Women’s International Day! 🙋🏻♀️💪🏻There are so many smart, creative, empowered women out there, I wish I could recognize you all! From solo travelers, to business owners, to moms who do it all, you are amazing and I love sharing this space on Instagram with you. ... This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #PressForProgress. Are you doing anything for the women’s movement? What does Press For Progress mean to you?
Here is a glimpse of Bourbon Street earlier in the day... The tourists are still shuffling in, not many establishments are open yet, and no one’s party has gotten started. It’s such a contrast to the night scene, which is its own beast and worth experiencing, too! ... OK, I’ve got a fun fact that will likely provoke passionately divided opinions: Did you know that there is a jogging tour 🏃♀️⚜️ that will take you through the French Quarter and other popular sites? It’s about 6 miles total, goes at a slower jogging pace, and starts as early as 6:00am! 🤗 I know, many of you are groaning because that sounds likes torture. But I LOVE early mornings and I LOVE exploring a new city by running through it, and I wish I had learned about the tour earlier in my visit so I could have partaken. ... Would you do a morning jog tour to see a new city? If your answer is hell-to-the-no, what is your favorite way to explore a new place? Let me know in the comments below! 👇🏻
If you’ve been following my IG Stories, you know that I’ve been real sick for the last six days. 🤒 Yesterday was the worst. I wasn’t getting any better, and in fact, WORSE. I felt helpless. I didn’t want to take time off from work and dip into my limited paid-time-off bucket, I didn’t want to become out of shape due to lack of exercise, and I really missed people. Like, people IRL. . So what did I finally do? I stopped worrying about work and my other responsibilities and I told myself to go to sleep. I slept a good portion of the day, and though I still felt bad when I woke up, I knew it’s what I needed. Then I decided to actually take the next day off from work because so far I was still working remote. . Fast forward to this morning: I slept in late, I took a shower 🚿 and washed my hair for the first time in a week. And? I’m feeling better. Not totally better, just better. . Moral of the story? Let everything else go when you’re sick and focus on resting your body and your mind. It made all the difference for me. Look out society, I’ll be rejoining you soon! 😝 . What’s the longest you’ve ever been sick before? What do you think made you finally recover? Share in the comments! 👇🏻
Are you a movie lover? 🎥🎞 If you’re like me, you know that today is the Academy Awards and you’re kind of excited. (No shame! 🤩) In a few hours we’ll know who wins an Oscar, and which movies we should have watched last year but didn’t. I used to be really into the Oscars. Like, I’d watch as many nominated films as possible, and organize Oscar viewing parties with themed appetizer menus around the nominated films (think: mac & cheese balls for 2012’s “Beast of the Southern Wild” - a movie that took place offshore New Orleans ⚜️). This year I only watched a handful of the nominated films because I don’t have the time. You can find out which nominated film I just watched this morning by checking my IG stories before it disappears! Also, let me know if you plan to watch the Academy Awards tonight in the poll! I’m totally curious. 😁
Ok, ya’ll. (I use “y’all because it’s gender neutral, BTW). Thank you so much for sharing your goals and projects on yesterday’s post. Ummm... you are all super inspiring! Sometimes I forget that there are so many hard working, side-hustling, creative people out there, and reading about your projects got me feeling re-centered and excited about working on my own goals. Exactly what I needed! Thank you 😎💪🏻🤩 ▪️▪️▪️ (Note: This photo was taken in New Orleans while walking through the happy and colorful neighborhood of Bywater! My favorite little patch of side walk.) ▪️▪️▪️ On the flip side, I woke up this morning to a storm, scratchy throat, and minor cough. Not incredibly motivating, especially with the weekend coming up. ▪️▪️▪️ How do you stay motivated when you aren’t feeling well? Do you let yourself rest, or pop some cold meds and fake it ‘til your body catches up with your mind? (à la “Can’t stop, won’t stop” mantra! 😆) Share in the comments below! 👇🏻
