Language Academy in collaboration with Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Vokasional Indahpura Kulai organized an English Language Camp at Hutan Bandar Kulai and at Aeon Library Kulai on 3 october 2017. 29 students from SMPKV participated and assisted by 12 facilitators from UTM and SMPKV. The objectives of the camp are to increase the students’ interest to use english in their daily life and to increase the students’ motivation and confidence level to communicate in English. The camp started off at Hutan Bandar Kulai with a stimulating Earthquake ice-breaking coordinated by the passionate Miss Siti Khadijah binti Abdul Wahab. Other activities included Win Lose or Draw, Heads Up, Phrasal Verbs, Word Search and Kahoot Quiz. The second phase of the camp took place at the public library at Aeon Kulai which included the origami activity, prize giving and certificate presentation. The event ended with a speech by Puan Zaidah (Guru penolong kanan of SMPKV) and the dean of LA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim bin Abdul Raof.
The Language Academy of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has jointly organised a programme called Empowerment of Community via Enhanced Business Communication programme (ECEBCom) with Johor Petroleum Development Corporation Berhad (JPDC). The participants which consist of the local business community from Pengerang had visited the airport on 30 September 2017 as one of the activities of the programme. The main focus of the visit was to expose and give the participants ideas on how to promote their business or products to local and foreign visitors to Malaysia since the Senai airport is the gateway to the south.
