TEACHER TIP THURSDAY Somedays, like today, my desk is a MESS when I end the day. Today, it was full of assessments, papers I just got done copying before specials were over, notes, and more. When it was time to head out I just wanted to go home, but I had to follow my own rule. Never leave school till you clear your desk off. If you follow this tip I promise you will feel so much better each day. I leave right when the day is up and do not stay late, but I always clean off my desk. My mornings go so much smoother because of it. Anyone else have the messy desk at the end of the day?!
The bat cave challenge is for sure one of my favorites each year! The students enter the cave and find out their teacher is a bat and her wing is broken. They have to earn their own wings in order to fit hers. They complete 4 reading and writing challenges that are rigorous and engaging! This leads them to earn some wings and head back to enjoy the bat cave! It is EASY engagement and full of rigor. There is a paper or digital version! Today I even added a differentiated version that can be used for struggling students to feel successful or used for lower elementary (grades 1-2)! I find crafts so very valuable in the classroom, upper elementary included. I make sure to fit in at least one type of craft a week. That might be a directed drawing, a directed craft, or a free craft! Anything to get the kids working through art and being creative. I also love to pair this with a piece of literature and some writing! :) How do you make sure that you put art into your curriculum? These cute pumpkins were done by @teachloveandicedcoffee and they are perfect!
Have you seen this?! @Vooks is a offering an amazing service that can bring your read aloud to life for FREE! #sponsored @Vooks is offering a FREE year of streaming services to all teachers and homeschool educators. I’ve already been using this service in my classroom and the books are amazing! The read aloud are high interest and work perfectly for teaching with a mentor text. Plus the text is on the screen for the child to follow along! They are animated which keeps the kids extra engaged when reading! It is like Netflix for teachers, but better! If you haven’t signed up for your year of FREE services then do so by going to the link in @friendlyteacher bio! #vooks #vookspartner #betterscreentime . . . . . . . . . https://www.vooks.com/teacher-appreciation/?SQF_VIA=friendlyteacher
