I found out about Beautylish in the later part of 2011 and was hooked. It was initially where a community of makeup artists and enthusiasts came together and shared their tips, tricks and general know-how of the industry. As a budding enthusiast at the time, I was sucked into this world of ridiculously talented people and learnt A LOT. If you’re a makeup artist or an enthusiast, check out the Editorial Section of their website. It has A LOT of information, with one of the most popular being Building Your Kit by the legendary James Vincent @jvincentmakeup I know that makeup in Nigeria has its own peculiarities but I believe that there are one or two things you can definitely pick up or learn or add to your existing knowledge. I just realized that in all the time I’ve been on here I’ve never shared this. I don’t do beauty reviews anymore and I’m a reformed makeup junkie but I will share some useful (I hope) information from time to time. Let me know if this was helpful!! PS I will share a bunch of the artists that inspire me and those I learnt a lot from. Bimpe Onakoya (Aunty B of life), Lisa Eldridge, Jordan Liberty, Bobbi Brown, Rae Morris (her books are incredible) oh and King Mali, Danessa Myricks, Sheika Daley and so many more.
So a quick review on the @altruistsun SPF 50 sunscreen. I’ve been using it for about a year (cos I bought in bulk after trying one from @thatgeminigirl). I will confess that I’m still struggling with reapplication (especially this emollient formula) but “at all at all na im bad pass”. Pros: 1. Doesn’t make my sensitive breakout like most sunscreens do. 2. Relatively affordable 3. Does the job 4. Doesn’t leave a white cast when applied properly. If you read the instructions, it says to apply 20 mins before going out. I normally put it on, continue getting dressed and then rub in again if I need to. Cons: 1. For my skin type, it’s a bit too emollient for me, but I powder it down and move on with my day. 2. Because it’s a bit too emollient, reapplication is a struggle. I’ll still buy it and keep it in steady rotation. Do you use this? Do you like this? What are your thoughts? #altruist #altruistsunscreen P.S- I don’t do reviews anymore but this was a special request :)
So if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’m absolutely obsessed with podcasts and audiobooks. I decided to share them with you guys on a separate page. Please follow @podcastcuratorng for my thoughts and recommendations. Thank you !!!!
