I am in love with this grownup pink peeking through to a dramatic teal in the next room. Anyone else notice a trend towards dramatic painted trim? Kind of loving it. (Will link to more examples in my stories.) ⠀⠀ Would you, could you, do this? ▫️ ⠀⠀ Photo by @alexadagmar, design by @ruth_and_joanna, via @chairishco ⠀⠀ #interiordecor #614blogger #ohiobloggers #614bloggers #dscolor #foyer #dspink #ig_color #coloraddict #colormehappy #pink #pinklove #millennialpink #millenialpink #homedecor #darkrooms #pinkrooms #modernglam #interiorinspo #colorcourage
I did a thing. Back in January, I was scrolling Facebook one night and I saw an art class offering that was unlike others usually held at a studio in town. I immediately signed up for “Abstract with Acrylics” on a random Tuesday in March. — ⠀⠀ I was excited about this class because even though I had taken Drawing and Design in college for my one year at architecture school, we certainly didn’t do any abstract anything. And these days I am trying — really trying — to rediscover some long-shelved interests and skills. (It’s not a midlife crisis. It’s not a midlife crisis. It’s not a midlife crisis.) — ⠀⠀ So last night I went to class where I knew No One and watched and listened and tried to embrace Anna’s firm but intentionally vague directives. We spreaded and smooshed and buttered and blobbed and pushed and backed off and added more and scraped and then I was Done. — ⠀⠀ It was fast and furious and I’m pretty sure we all went through various stages of self-doubt, fear, and here-goes-nothing. It wasn’t freeing. It was HARD to know where to go and what more you need. I takes a lot of courage to step back and say, yeah, this is enough. What I did here? It’s enough. — ⠀⠀ So thank you, @artwithanna. Thank you for following your own dream of creating a studio for all. For making art part of the community of Bexley. For offering classes to kids of all ages and encouraging us middle-aged somethings to be uncomfortable and take chances, even if it’s just on canvas. Thank you for taking a chance just by offering this class. I felt like we were all jumping in together and figuring our way to the other side. Your passion lights up your whole being and we were lucky to spend a Random Tuesday with you and some acrylics. xo — ⠀⠀ Anna hosts classes All. The. Time. in her studio in Bexley. Dear internet, 👀 My entry has overwhelmed me since day one. It’s fairly small and dark and you can see it from every room on the first floor. I would love to throw some color in there, but I worry about it getting even darker. So it’s been white (which is now “Dingy White with Custom Scuff Marks”) for 3.5 years. . Today, I put some tape on the walls to see how adding more board and batten would look in there. Jury’s out... because it would mean figuring out where to stop. I mean, do we go up the stairs, too? I took some photos but decided there wasn’t enough time to Photoshop anything. . I then contemplated taking it all down because it looks like strange racing stripes going up the stairway, but I had to move on to other things on the to deux list. And, at the rate I’m moving on decisions these days, we might be sporting Scotch Off White Masking Tape + custom Scuff Marks for a while. I know this is important stuff. Thank you for listening. XO Yours truly, Bewildered in Bexley ——— Also note the assortment of attractive Ohio winter-weather-friendly rugs. Klassy.
A last minute road trip to the Big Apple. Safe travels. A reliable vehicle. Staying with old friends in their new town. A tavern, a giant cat, and homemade curry. Late night bubbly with a bestie. Twice. . A sunrise commute to the station. Figuring out the trains, considering the life as a city train commuter, finally understanding how people have time for podcasts. Navigating the city with little trouble. . Filling time with a walk from broadway to Central Park. A sunny day. Dog walkers. The Met. Disappointing news, but a great attitude. Telling her to “hail a cab” and having her figure that out on her own. A delicious unplanned lunch at the cafe, where we overlooked the park and watched a trio of dachshunds enjoying the fair weather. . Last minute, third-row orchestra tix to see her current favorite show and cast. Watching her joy. Playing the day by ear. Making it back to Penn Station and getting on the right train with minutes to spare. Thank you, kind NYPD officer. . Looking back on a crazy 9 hours, seeing the Freedom Tower from a train car, as ever impressed by its enormity. Being off the grid for 48 hrs in one of the “griddiest” places on earth, afraid to miss a moment while looking at my phone instead. Very few photos taken, as too busy living. Thankful for the village at home picking up my slack. . Home safe and in time to make her favorite casserole. A new twelve year old, a part in the play, and enough time for cake + candles. Tired, blessed, safe, loved. . Gratitudes, indeed. === Special shout-out to Carey + Co for graciously welcoming us into their home, helping us plan the logistics of a tricky day, and making us feel welcome. Gladstone is lucky to have you. I miss you all so much. 😘
Hope your Valentine’s Day is full of cheesy puns, love notes from friends and family, and chocolate. Always, chocolate! 😘
Another dose of pink for these last few days before Valentine’s Day. And please explain to me why I cannot paint my living room this color? It’s February, it’s snowing, school is closed, and we are huddled inside planning valentines for next week. 💗 ⠀⠀ I was scrolling through my collections looking for craft ideas when I was struck by all the pretty pink I’ve been saving lately. This should actually not come as a surprise, but it was all too good not to share. ⠀⠀ Do you do store-bought valentines? Do you get crafty? I started out with crafty years ago, and some years it seemed like a lot...but this year I only have ONE left in elementary school. One. It goes by so fast, guys!🙈 ⠀⠀ Enjoy the pink tour. It might be the first of several over the next week. What do you think? Yay/nay? ⠀⠀ Xoxoxo Chris ⠀⠀ 📷: 1) @caitlinwilsondesign 2) @genevievegorder via @designsponge 3)@livingedgeinteriors Via @ashleytstark, 4) @voyage_provocateur 5) @monalogue
It was a weekend of middle school theatrical performances and hosting out of town family and fighting flu symptoms and freezing temps. ⠀⠀ Today, my friends, is calm and quiet and I’m not going to lift a finger. This Monday is a welcome pause. You’ll find me fireside with a pup on my lap and tea in my cup! (And I might fire up the DVR and rewatch JT’s Super Bowl halftime performance, because it was epic!) ⠀⠀ #dscolor #bhghome #homedecor #homestyle #interiordecor #pocketofmyhome #ohioblogger #blueandwhite #614blogger #ohiobloggers #614bloggers #plaidtable #madforplaid #greenandblueplaid #raphaelwallpaper #sandbergwallpaper
