Happy Friday! I’ve got a busy couple of weeks ahead so I spent some time today resetting spaces in our home... - dining ✔️ - lounge ✔️ - kids rooms ✔️ - laundry ✔️ - kitchen ✔️ Still on my to-do list is: - master bedroom - bathroom - playroom / office (saving the best til last 🙈) I will set the timer for 15 minutes (for each area) tonight! 💪🏼 Who wants to join me? I love writing lists, even more so when I can cross things off 👏🏻🙌🏼 What’s on your to-do list?
A few days ago my friend asked me for some help with her pantry. It was overwhelming and she didn't know where to start... . So today we tackled her PANTRY! . Products I used and recommend: (all purchased from KMart) - turntable/lazy susan for sauces and oils or spreads - 3 tier shelf to store cans, spices etc - baskets to corral like items together (all those containers that don't have matching lids are perfect - use what you have at home first) . When I arrived, the pantry was in a corner cupboard, which is a big space, however it just wasn't working for her and her family. I asked my friend if she ever considered swapping cupboards...moving the pantry to where the cups and plates etc were. The thought didn't even cross her mind...and she was super excited about the change! . We got to work, taking things out and giving the cupboards a good clean, before returning items. . I started to set up a possible layout for the 'new pantry' and we started decanting items and corralling like items together. Discarding any rubbish, or expired good along the way. . The corner cupboard was the new home to the cups and plates etc and it looked great! . We made the final touches to the new pantry, stood back and just said WOW! What a difference it has made by simply swapping cupboards! . Everything has a place, and everything can be seen a first glance! . I will be checking in on my friend in a few weeks to see how the 'new pantry' and the systems we put in place are going. . Gotta love a good BEFORE & AFTER photo! . What do you think?
|| LAUNDRY || Spent 15 minutes decluttering, tidying and cleaning our Laundry today. This space quickly becomes a bit of a dumping ground and it frustrates me, thankfully it didn’t take long to get it back to normal! Now to tidy the Linen Cupboard... I challenge you to spend 15 minutes tidying up your laundry 🧺...Ready, Set...Go!!!
|| KONMARI || Hands up who has been watching the ‘Tidying Up with Marie Kondo’ on Netflix...What are your thoughts? Today’s task for @justanothermummyblog’s #jambdeclutterchallenge was Cull Your Wardrobe, so I thought it was a great time to put the KonMari method to good use again. I’ve added a quick time-lapse video of how I did with the purging. Once I finished purging, I returned the clothes that spark joy to their hangers and the rest I folded - ‘KonMari style’ - I’ve always been a fan of this style of folding, I use this method with my partner’s clothes and my son’s too (sometimes he helps). My daughter folds her own clothes this way too 🙌🏼 Can we take a moment to appreciate my folded jeans 👏🏻👌🏼🌟 If you didn’t know, I completed the KonMari method back in 2016 with my own belongings and then my kids...It was a game changer for me and my decluttering journey - I documented my journey on my blog (link in bio - note I still need to change the domain over🙈) Have you KonMari’d your clothes? Bonus points for photos 🙌🏼
|| KITCHEN || Today I gave our kitchen a deep clean 🧽 🌱 Started left and worked my way around 🌱 One drawer/cupboard at a time 🌱 Took everything out and gave the space a good clean and returned items nicely and organised 🌱 Decluttered anything we didn’t need or use anymore 🌱 Wiped surfaces and outside of cupboards and drawers 🌱 Cleaned windowsill and windows Kitchen tour/photos on my stories 👏🏻 Oven will be cleaned on another day, same as fridge/freezer. I did however clean behind the fridge 🙊 When was the last time you cleaned behind the fridge?
|| BATHROOM || No change to our system here in the bathroom cupboard 🙌🏼 - keeping it simple with small rattan baskets from @kmart.nz - grouping like items together: Hair/Body/Feminine & Masculine. The only thing new is that I have FINALLY added labels - nothing fancy, just good ol’ washi tape and a Sharpie👌🏼👏🏻 Does the trick! For those who don’t know @justanothermummyblog has created a fantastic declutter challenge over on her page - definitely check it out! 👏🏻 Also a special shout out to: @spark_joy_london - who is currently doing a ‘KonMari With Kids’ Challenge 👏🏻 🌟 @peterwalshorganizer #31days2getorganized is back for another year - and all the tasks are Reader’s Choice! 🙌🏼 @organisingthe4ofus - Who is the mastermind behind Project 14 - A Fresh Start - which I am currently enrolled in and loving at the moment! 💗 Also...Have you watched Tidying Up with @mariekondo on @netflixanz? Who else is doing a declutter challenge? I’m a little obsessed 🙊🙈
