I organised and hosted a little SURPRISE Baby Shower for one of my close friends this morning. I invited her Mum, sister and a couple of our friends. It was a complete surprise, she just thought she was coming for morning tea and a play date 🙊☺️ We can’t wait to meet the newest addition to her family soon 👶🏼💙 My cup is full 😍👌🏼
🌟 Ngā mihi o Te Tau Hou 🌟 We’ve been learning about Matariki this week, and there’s more to learn over the next few weeks too. (Note: ‘Setting of Matariki 7th June, Rising of Matariki 6-9th July, Matariki period 6-13 July’ - Rangi Matamua) Today at Playcentre, I set up a little area where the children can colour in some of the stars - Te Iwa o Matariki and later dye them. Once they were dry, I put the star names on and displayed them above our window for everyone to see. (I later added a little description of what each star represented underneath). Next to our Matariki display are the words to the ‘Matariki Macarena’. This year I have included Pōhutukawa and Hiwa (Hiwa-i-te-Rangi) in the waiata/song. The dance moves and tune are the same as the original ‘Macarena’.🌟 It’s a great way for our children (and adults) to learn the names of the nine stars. Have your children been learning about Matariki - Māori New Year? I’m looking forward to more Matariki celebrations over the next few weeks x
I’m currently reading ‘The More of Less’ by @joshua_becker and I connected with what he said about ‘the simple act of cleaning my car’ 🙌🏼 . “It was not just cleaner but also calmer - like a focused breath of fresh air.” . Our car has been neglected for some time 🙈 and it was in desperate need of a good vacuum. . I love going down to our local self service car cleaning place and using the big industrial vacuum. It took me 6 minutes (approx $4) to vacuum the whole car (I’m a speedy vacuum cleaner 😆), all the rubbish has been removed, and anything that didn’t belong in the car, was put in a pile ready to be returned inside when we got home. . It feels so good to have a clean car again and now I’m ready to tackle this week! “As I drove, I could feel mind relaxing, allowing me to focus on the day ahead” 👌🏼 Grab a bag or basket and spend 10-15 minutes tidying your car. Remove anything that doesn’t belong and give it a quick vacuum. You will be so glad you did when you jump in your car in the morning☺️

Creating a home that ‘sparks joy’ takes time... . I started my KonMari journey in January 2016...two and bit years later I look around my home and just smile from ear to ear. . I have discarded A LOT of stuff, stuff I didn’t even know I had or had held on to for over 20 years! . I am currently fine tuning my home and creating little pockets of joy, like this one, it warms my heart. . I’ve still got a few areas to tackle, so until then...I will make subtle changes until I get that ‘click’ feeling. . I shared my whole KonMari journey - the good, the bad and the ugly - on my blog. This includes my own journey and then my kids 🤗. #konmari #sparkjoy @mariekondo
This little guy has had a rough run this week :( High temps over the weekend and now home sick with Croup :( You know your kids are sick when...they fall asleep anywhere, anytime 🤒😷😴
