ALL families with kids attending UA are asked to contribute at least 60 volunteer hours to the school per year. Even our principals donate their time! Our middle school principal Mrs. Yermack spent time collecting admissions at one of our basketball games to get hours for her family. Thanks for all the time you dedicate to UA, Mrs. Yermack!
Challenge. Character. COMMUNITY. Today, our first-grade classes spent their half-day making birthday cards, name tags, coloring sheets, wrapping paper and bookmarks for the Bright Blessings program “Bless-a-Birthday,” which provides gift baskets to homeless and impoverished children on their birthdays. At Union Academy, we know how important it is to teach children to give back to their community. If you know anyone who shares these values and is looking for a school for their children, tell them to apply for the UA Student Enrollment Lottery, open NOW until Feb. 16! #WeAreUA
The 2018-19 UA Student Enrollment Lottery is NOW OPEN! Please visit our website, www.unionacademy.org, to apply. We are accepting applications until 10 a.m. on Feb. 16.
For their NC history unit this week, Mr. Skipper’s fourth-grade class had a visitor today who spoke about her journey to American citizenship! Thank you Anyi Mejia-Arias for taking the time to share your story with our students!
The ladies in the front office love their new matching t-shirts, thanks to UA teacher Jenifer Bratchie! We’d also like to give a special thank-you to UA parent volunteer Sara Baker for spending every Friday helping in the front office! #itsagreatdayatUA

UA ninth-grader Ashlin Austin is spreading warmth this winter to those who need it most with homemade knitted hats. Ashlin sold her hats at the 2017 Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte and donated all profits to Hospice of Cabarrus County and Hospice of Union County. She is currently knitting more hats to donate to the cancer-treatment center at CMC-Union in Monroe. Please join us in thanking Ashlin for her selflessness and dedication to our community.
Our construction crew is working extremely hard to finish our new building and unite all our students on one campus, and we wanted to show them how much we appreciate what they're doing for our school. Wednesday morning, our hospitality volunteers set up a thank-you breakfast for each crew member to enjoy. Thank you, volunteers, for donating food and time to show how much we appreciate our construction crew. A huge and continuous thank-you to our Myers & Chapman, Inc. team for helping us make our dream a reality.
Thank you to all our contestants for a great competition at today's Spelling Bee. A special CONGRATULATIONS to our winner, Chinmay Singh, and our runner-up, Taeya Newman!
