This summer has been a different—and really sweet season of preaching for me. As God has been leading me to teach our people about abiding, He’s been teaching me the same. Even when I want to study and perform and work hard in my own strength, he’s been whispering to me and teaching me to let Him lead. I’m so excited to teach about the pruning part of abiding tonight. It’s the piece a lot of us get afraid of. We don’t quite know what to do with discipline, and most of us haven’t seen it done well, so I’m excited to share the Father’s heart for discipline and pruning tonight. Special guest @philipvega will be in the house tonight and I can’t wait for you guys to experience what we’ve put together for you in worship.
Praying for JD Greear tonight and tomorrow while the SBC votes for their next president. We love and trust this man so much bc of his strong character & his track record in church planting, mission and leadership. #jd4prez
Thursday night felt different in the best possible way. Historically, our church hasn't had anything for college students during the summer, so the night was historic just in the fact that it was happening. Our first Common Ground in the summer. From my time sitting with the Lord preparing the message to worshipping together and throughout the whole night, the Spirit was leading the way. God is always a gracious teacher with me and Thursday was no exception. As I was preparing to teach our people about the joy of abiding and diving into God's word, He drew me close to do just that and it changed me and it changed how I taught. Thursday night was a really special night for Common Ground and also for me. So thankful that I get to do this with my life. @cbc.college
I still can't get over how incredible today has been. Baptism Sunday is always my favorite at our church but today was extra special as I got to baptize dozens of the college students we've gotten to invest in this past year. So many of these students have been in our home and I've watched as they've taken steps of obedience and let God stretch and surprise them in new ways. Today, they declared their newness in Christ as we symbolically demonstrated their journeys from death to life in baptism. I'm overjoyed and honored to get to lead college students and young adults in this city to the feet of Jesus.
4 years ago today I hit the wife-lottery when I said “Yes” to life with this woman. She has been the sweetest gift to me. I love her spontaneous dance moves when she gets excited, I love her clever & perfectly timed humor, I love the way that she loves and invest in people, I love the way she is magical with every child and I love how much she loves “planned, calculated and safe” adventures. I’m so thankful I get to spend my life with you by my side. Happy 4th Anniversary @janeworsham
What a surreal moment to share the stage last night at Common Ground with my best friends of 15 years. Jeff and Jourdan have been joyful cheerleaders, safe confidants and consistent encouragers in ministry in every season of my life. I love how they lead on and off the stage and was honored to have them step into our world and lead the family we’ve been building here. They follow Jesus and love people like we want every one of our college students and young adults to lead. Feeling full after quality time with two of my favorite humans and their two tiny humans.
Can't imagine this past year without @timothyateek 's friendship. Thankful for a friend, encourager, sermon prep guru, storyteller and brother. So grateful this guy was willing to drive from College Station to challenge and encourage us at @cbc.college Common Ground last night to live lives of faith and not fear.
What an incredible night at @cbc.college Common Ground last night. I've been so excited to jump into our new series called Do Something Big, gleaning truth from men & women in the Bible who spent their lives for something greater than themselves. That's my desire for our people, our church and our city. It's my joy to serve faithfully in the field alongside these young adults as God shapes us into men and women after his heart. I also baked my first loaf of bread for this sermon, which is hiding behind those cloths 😏🍞.
God's adventure is usually bigger and scarier than we would plan for ourselves but so much more rewarding. I think we're often scared that choosing God's way means giving up on our dreams... But what if he just wants us to dream bigger, risk bigger and trust him more for something greater than we could have asked for or imagined? I've loved getting to talk with you guys about what God is stirring in you after watching the @thisismetv doc in my profile. Thankful God has used my story to encourage some of you to trust him with yours.
