I've spent the last two Saturdays at @kcwineco, sitting on a giant Adirondack chair overlooking a pond, having wine, and I don't feel one bit guilty about it! My fave is when the winery dog is running around too! 🍷🐶 What do you take time to do to unwin(e)d? 😉#slpweekend #kcwineco

Common objects sensory bin for some easy Friday therapy - every kid likes digging through (and squishing!) colored peanuts. And it's WAY easier to clean up than beans!
When my husband and I go to breakfast, we always hit the used bookstore 📚afterwards, and he knows he can always find me in the children's section! 😂👧 Which part of the bookstore do you make a beeline for? Describe it with an emoji below!. . . PS- This Bear book was a new find for me-- it's super simple and great for opposites!
My friends probably can't remember a time when I threw parties without a theme 😂 This year for my husband's birthday, we went with nerdy thirty(two) and everyone fully embraced the theme! 🤓🤓 Swipe through to see some of the highlights!
#SPEDhandsonday5 theme is experiments! This is one I did a couple years ago for Valentine's Day. We tried to make conversation hearts dance in a glass! We made predictions about which colors would float/dance and which would stay at the bottom. Each poured in crushed Alka Seltzer, picked a color heart to put in, and poured in sparkling water. Some groups had lots of hearts dancing from the gas bubbles and others only had 1 or 2. They all had a good time, though! 😊. . Side note: I had some help crushing the alka seltzer in the morning before school started, and by the time we were done, it looked like we had done cocaine on my therapy table 😂 #nothingtoseehere #movealong
Eek! Yesterday was crazy and I totally forgot about posting a movement activity for #SPEDhandsonday4. I love pairing yoga poses when learning animal vocabulary! Pairing motor actions can really help little brains make those lasting connections to what they're learning. @kidsyogastories has great printable yoga pictures that I use! (Thanks to @live.love.speech and @thedabblingspeechie for this fun week of themed posts!)
Talk like a pirate day is coming up in a couple weeks, which is always fun to incorporate into therapy! With this sensory bin, put scotch tape on gold coins and write numbers 1-5 on them. I drew this chart on the fly, but you could put different target cards in the columns, and when your kiddos find their buried treasure, they can practice their targets using their card in that column! #SPEDhandsonday3 #talklikeapirateday
I'll be using the lightbox a lot this year since I have a kiddo with visual impairments, but all of my other kids love the lightboxes/light tables, too! Do you have any favorite lightbox activities/materials?
