The long weekend is upon us. A time when so many people head away for a few days, which means NO GYMS. . If you're planning on enjoying a few (too many) easter eggs, then make sure you keep moving and stay active as well. . The girls from MPT enjoyed this pyramid workout the other day, and we KNOW you will as well. . Set a timer for 30 mins and try and get through it as many times as you can. Rest when you need, and sip on plenty of water throughout. 🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇
So inspired by this lady 😍 @addwah qualified for the Boston Marathon and has been working her butt off ever since. She flew to America, got sick, still managed to run a PB and take 4 minutes off her previous best. And she ran a MARATHON IN 3 HOURS, 24 MINS. Yep, a whole 42km. WHAT THE?? That's sitting at a speed of around 13km/h for the whole time 😮 . Addie, you are superwoman. All of MPT are so inspired and happy for you 👏👏👏
A little delayed but a huge thank you to ALL our members and community for all your well wishes. We FINALLY (after almost 10 years together) tied the knot. The day was perfect in every way and we couldn't have hoped for anything more. @fernmalcolm @travispantelic
Through our daily life we move forward and backwards, side to side, up and down and rotate. Daily we move in EVERY DIRECTION. . However, does your training replicate all the movements that you perform in your day to day life, or the demands of your sport, for example when you perform a golf swing when you drive off the tee. . Rotational power, the ability to generate as much force through your body to rapidly rotate from left to right or vice versa. . Developing rotational power can reduce chance of injuries at maximal intensities, can increase the speed of movement, can increase the power of which you throw or hit objects whilst rotating (i.e. during a golf swing, throwing a ball) . Do you like the sounds of that? Having more power? It's enticing, I know. If this sounds like you then check out the videos above. Perform these movements, think about being as fast as possible, brace your core and rotate through your whole body, from your feet to your hands.
Make every session count 💦 ⚡
When speaking about the youth, aged between 10-18, do you currently think that strength training stunts growth? Also, do you think it will make them slower or will lead to a higher chance of injury, maybe even strength training will lead to issues later in life? . These are common queries and thoughts that people have when it comes to junior strength training. . A large array of studies has been conducted on this topic; all have been quite positive for this topic. Strength training does not have any negative effects on growth plates and therefore no issues later in life, they will have a lowered chance of developing injuries from over use and stress. . It will definitely not make the kid slow, a larger muscle and one that has a stronger neural connection will mean the individual will be able to produce more force into the ground and therefore become faster. . SO what should you do? Hire a professional and ensure that the focus is on skill and technique proficiency, use the main compound lifts and ensure that sessions are on non-consecutive days.
Trying to prank @chris_ismail but he is too clever for us 😂😂😂
D E A D L I F T S Conventional or sumo; what should you choose? What allows the individual to lift more weight? What is even the difference between the two? The main difference between the two lifts is the set up. As you can see in the pictures above, the sumo deadlift has a much wider foot placement when compared to the conventional and the torso position changes between the two lifts. The key differences between the two lifts are: 1.Ones quadriceps are more active during the sumo 2. The spinal erectors are more active during the conventional 3. There is a 20-25% on average difference in range of motion between the two lifts. With the sumo requiring the shorter range. 4. The larger range of the movement requires 20-25% more mechanical workload. Not one is better than the other, choosing the style of lift comes down to personal preference. Try out both styles, improve your technique on both of them and see what one you prefer.
