🍓Meet a Farmer Monday🍓 Jen first fell in love with farming during college, when she spent a summer working at Cloudview EcoFarms in Washington state. She is coming to NMF from Case Western Reserve, where she earned a degree in Nutrition. Jen is excited to be living and learning in southern PA for her first full season of farming where she will be managing raspberries, celeriac, radishes, turnips, and strawberries as well as assisting with drip irrigation, market pallets, fire safety and Sunday market. When she's not farming Jen enjoys hiking, crafting, reading, and traveling.
Looking at these beautiful strawberry blossoms and thinking about all the beautiful mothers in the world. Happy Mama's Day to all the mothers who were, are, and will be. . . . We're here at DuPont Circle, so swing by to pick up your mom something scrumptious ☺️
Cooking is one of the most beautiful forms that generosity takes. . . But the very best cooking, I discovered, is also a form of intimacy - Michael Pollan . . . Friendly reminder that it's Mother's Day tomorrow ❤️ And what better way to celebrate the mothers in our lives than a trip to a local farmers market and a home cooked meal? We'll be at DuPont tomorrow 8:30 - 1:30

Meet a farmer Monday! This week's #youngfarmers is Jonathan! Jonathan is a native North Carolinian and avid lover of the South. He first got into farming working with his grandmother at an early age, helping her in her garden during the hot summer North Carolina months. Jonathan has worked in community gardens in Greensboro, North Carolina, feeding folks in his immediate community facing food insecurity. Wanting a bigger farm experience, he has farmed in Utah and now in Pennsylvania. Ultimately he wants to have his own homestead where folks can live and farm together in an intentional community. This season he will be managing Cilantro, Dill, Okra, and Summer Squash. When Jonathan is not farming, he enjoys reading books, writing poetry, playing bass guitar, doing yoga, and drinking tea. Catch him on Saturday markets to receive a high five or a sticker!
