I am home. 💙 When I first saw photos and read the beautiful story behind Taichung's Rainbow Village, I decided I needed to see Taiwan. The village was a settlement area for veterans. Slowly, the houses got run down and residents were selling their property to developers. Mr. Huang Yung Fo was the only person left and began painting the village. His gorgeous and playful works single handedly saved the village from demolition and is now preserved as a cultural area. When you doubt what one person can do to change things, remember that story. This place was a non negotiable for me. I stepped in the village and my heart started jumping. A warmth of giddiness came then inspiration and joy followed. It was a 3.5 hour trip one way and it was SO WORTH IT. Thank you Taiwan for having an amazing transport system and Google Maps + Translate that made the journey hassle-free. There is something about the place's energy that captured me and made everything 10 times better. Mr. Huang Yung Fo, thank you for sharing your gift. You are an inspiration.
Yung sumisikip na ang pantalon ko Taiwan series. Translation: My pants are getting tight in Taiwan. 😂 One of the items I knew I wanted to try in Taipei - Torched Beef with Rose Salt. Yaaaaaaas. Thanks for the calories Raohe Night Market, you were worth it. PS Yes we had 10 million other things.
