Made it to Everest Base Camp 23.04 at 11:50 local time after hiking for nine days!💃🏽 • Going solo was always going to be a bit of a risk, but everything went according to plan. • I couldn't have done it without my better half Michael and all of you-friends, family and even strangers for supporting us. • Shout out to @travelloapp and @studentflightsau for believing in me! You have now been to 5380 metres above sea level too!👌 • How did you go solo? Did you exercise before? Was it hard? How heavy was your bag? Do I still want to climb the highest mountain in the world? I am preparing a blog post with all the answers to your questions soon so fire away! • Taking a well deserved break in Namche today after hiking up and down the track for 20 km in one go.🍻 I will be looking forward to your questions 🙏
We made it to Namche Bazaar today at the altitude of 3440 m above sea level! • This has been the toughest day so far with a constant ascent of over 700 metres. This took us a little over four hours to tackle. • Acclimatising here for the next two nights before going further up! • Internet is expensive on the trail, therefore I'm only updating every now and then. It's been great staying away from social media for a change. • Where in the world are you?
We made it alive to the worlds most dangerous airport in Lukla! I couldn't stop smiling the whole way here from Kathmandu this morning! • I will be taking a break from social media during our Everest Base Camp trek so prepare yourselves for hundreds of photos and plenty of stories when we come back! • Let our solo adventure begin as we will be making our way to Phakding four our first night. • Wish us luck and stay tuned!🙏
Today wins the title of the most challenging day of our time in Bali. • The ferry we booked and paid to get back to Bali from Gili Air left us on the island. We were never explained where the boat lands, plus they decided to come over with a boat that was under a different company name without even telling us. No wonder we waited for two hours for a boat that never came. • After almost missing our last ferry the day before our flight, an angry driver ripped us off by doubling the amount we agreed on before sitting in the car. He would not open the boot of the car where our bags were and pocketed a full day rate for a two hour drive. • After reading so much about the corruption in Bali and how westerners are falsely put to prison to make money from them, I am surprised the situation didn't somehow escalate and we didn't find ourselves in an Indonesian correction facility for no reason. • We are done with you, Indonesia! It has been a crazy roller coaster and I am actually glad to leave! See you tomorrow, Nepal! • Tell me about your most challenging day when travelling!
B E A C H ✖️ E A T ✖️ R E P E A T • I must say, life is pretty tough when the only thing in the agenda is going scuba diving, deciding what to eat and lying on beautiful beaches like this one. If only the damn Bali Belly would leave us alone. 😰 • I'm finally realising that we are flying out on Thursday for the biggest adventure yet-hiking to Everest Base Camp! Excitement is on 💯 %. • Where is your next holiday?
I could live like this forever. From one tropical island to another on our last few days in Bali! 🌴 • We took the fast boat from Amed to Gili T yesterday and had a great time going out for the first time during our Asia trip. • A bit lightheaded today, lying in a hammock would be perfect, but as time is relentlessly kicking us in the butt, we are on our way to Gili Air for some world class scuba diving!👌 • Where is your favourite place to kick back and relax?
