Is anyone else completely head-over-heels for these Little People, Big Dreams books? They are so, so beautiful! I've only got Marie Curie so far, but you can bet your bloomers I'll be getting the whole collection. #littlepeoplebigdreams
Just feminist things. (And unicorn socks.) #rebelgirls 🦄
So. I'm 30. Parties cause me an enormous amount of anxiety, but I knew I'd regret it if I didn't do anything at all to celebrate. Instead of having a massive shindig I kept it super small and had the dinner party of my dreams with my family, two best friends, loads of flowers, and literally the best cake I've had in my life (um hey @hellonaomicakes). I completely indulged my bookworm self and decorated the tables with children's classic books, got a book bunting cake topper from @chiarabelle, and had @hellonaomicakes make the most beautiful - and scrumptious - book themed cookies (which I forgot to hand out but oh well, more for moi). My heart feels so full from spending an evening with my fam. 30, so far you're a bit of alright. 🦄
Smitten. I am absolutely smitten. @blackincbooks sent me a copy of Between Us by Clare Atkins and I've barely put it down since receiving it yesterday. This story follows Anahita: an Iranian asylum seeker who is only allowed to leave the detention centre to go to school, Kenny: a guard at the detention centre, and Jono: Kenny's son and Anahita's classmate. Clare's writing immediately pulls you into Anahita's fear, awe and hope. I also think word nerds will really enjoy the unique way Clare writes Jono's experience. I'm actually so nervous to see where this story goes because I'm super attached to the characters! You'll find Between Us in bookshops January 29.
Merry Christmas Bookwormies. 🎄🎄🎄 Took this piccy for my @loveozya take over last week and am a lil bit in love with it.
Girlish by @laniwulff is defs my favourite release of 2017. It's inspiring, beautiful, and reinforces to girls that there's someone on their side. Definitely a necessary read for tweens and teens and basically anyone who wants to be reminded that they're not alone in the movement towards equality. ✊
⭐BOOKS TO BUY PEOPLE WHO HATE EVERYTHING⭐ Nothing beats a classic. Not only do they look mighty fine on a bookshelf, but I'm pretty sure they make you more intelligent just by owning one. (Or at least ~look~ more intelligent.) They're also good for puffing up the ol' ego. You think I'm smart enough to read and understand this massive book? Aww, bless. The beauts pictured are modern classics from @bloomsburypublishing. #stressmas
⭐BOOKS TO BUY PEOPLE WHO HATE EVERYTHING⭐ You can hate literally everything and still appreciate women who kick arse. Introducing Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls, a beautiful book you've no doubt heard of because everyone has been talking about it since the second it was released. Although it says Rebel Girls, this is definitely for adults as well (or anyone who needs reminding that females are strong as hell). It's the kind of book that provides inspiration for any age, and the illustrations are just gorgeous. #stressmas
⭐BOOKS TO BUY PEOPLE WHO HATE EVERYTHING⭐ We all know someone who is extremely difficult to buy for (on account of them hating literally everything). Tis the season of giving, and you're on the verge of giving them a piece of your mind. But fear not, dearest Bookwormies, because I've found a bunch of books that solve this problem. This week I'll be posting pics of my recommendations for the serial regifter in your life, starting with this anthology by @blackincbooks. An anthology makes such a great gift because of the variety. There's always a little something suitable for every taste. They're also really good for people who don't have a lot of time to sit down and read: you can pick up an anthology, knock over one story, and pick it up a few weeks later. Pictured here is the Best Australian Stories of 2017, but there's also a book of essays and poems in this series. These anthologies get extra points for featuring Aussie writers (ideal for anyone who loves to support local creatives). #stressmas
