I'm already loving the Productivity Made Simple course from @louise_bettylou. This week is all about screen-free time, and Louise’s challenge for the week is not to look at your phone for at least an hour after you wake up. I've been meaning to address my screen time for a while, so I’ve done her one better and upped my time offline even more. I have: 〰️ • Got out a good ol’ trusty paper notebook again (thanks @noteandshine!) to start writing my to-do list on paper. If I wake up with my paper list next to my bed, I know what to be getting on with, without heading straight for the spreadsheet list I keep on my laptop, affectionately named ‘Life List’. Though I’m pretty proud of how in-depth it is, I am well aware that I shouldn’t be equating a to-do list with life, as I don’t need it to survive (no matter how much it feels that way!) 〰️ • I’m also going to take on the challenge of avoiding my phone for an hour after I wake up in the morning, as per Louise’s instructions. She’s a master of productivity, and I know that doing this is so much more than just not getting sucked into social media when you start your day. It’s about setting your mind up for a focused and productive day ahead, and since I’m definitely guilty of going straight to YouTube for some morning videos, I want to start my day with something more positive like a healthy breakfast or some yoga. I know that may make some people eye roll, but I genuinely love it, so the more downward dog, the better, I say! 〰️ • And lastly, I’m going to continue my attempts to turn off my laptop and avoid my phone after around 7pm (I know, I know, after this it's going on charge in the other room!) This is a bold claim, since owning your own business means you act as the receptionist too, and that means there are always emails to answer. But I’m learning that if it can’t wait until the next day then I’ve probably stretched myself too thin, and need to make some adjustments. 〰️ I'm looking forward to sharing more with you from this challenge, and the rest of Louise’s course. If you missed the sign up period then I’d recommend joining her mailing list so you can get on the next one @louise_bettylou 😊
Working on this latest project has meant I've had to supercharge my productivity. I mean, NO housework has been done for weeks, it's madness up in here! 〰️ When I need to up-level my work game, I always turn to the productivity guru herself, @louise_bettylou , AKA, my friend Louise Miller. I've been looking for a way to work with her and share her wisdom with the @desklifeproject community for some time now, and next month we're in luck 💪 Louise's new course, Productivity Made Simple, starts on 2nd June, and she has very kindly offered us a discount (hurrah!) 🎉 〰️ If your to-do list makes you want to weep and you often get to the end of the day wondering where the time went, then join me in making June your month of taking action, and make the most of the £15 discount you'll receive with the code “DESKLIFE” 🙌🏻 〰️ There are more details at the bio link, but registration closes on May 31st, so it's a do-it-now kind of thing (difficult if you're a do-it-later kinda person like me, but that's why we need Louise in our lives!) ☝🏻
My only advice today... if you want the hot chocolate, get the hot chocolate 🙌🏻 I'm working in a cafe today and incorporating some self care into my busy day. And by self care I mean letting my sweet tooth run the ordering process 🍫
Sometimes you have to #escapeyourdesk to feel inspired, recharged and motivated again 🙌🏻 ▪︎ This weekend I got out of London and headed for Norfolk to soak up some vitamin D and fresh air, and it worked wonders 🌳 ▪︎ Where do you go to escape your desk? Tag me so I can see!
I've inadvertently ended up doing a digital detox, and it's been glorious! Don't worry though, I have plenty in the works for the next few months and I'll be back on your feed real soon 🙌🏻 Here's a little snap from Women's Health Live last weekend, where I got to nerd out on all sorts of advice from other female wellness entrepreneurs 🤓 Big thanks to @botanicpurity for taking me along for free facials and fun times! 💆🏼♀️
Easter weekend is here, along with a glorious dose of sunshine! ☀️ 〰️ If you’ve felt as busy as I have recently then I hope you have a great Easter planned, with plenty of relaxation on the cards 🐰 〰️ Being self-employed means you don’t always get to enjoy a full holiday like everyone else does, but I’m catching up on work today between yoga sessions and long walks in the sun, so it’s not all bad 👩🏼💻 〰️ You’ll notice I’ve had to be much less active on Desk Life Project recently, but for good reason. I’m working hard to bring you Desk Life Project 2.0, and I CANNOT WAIT to show you it, it’s already looking amazing 👌🏻 #watchthisspace
Those who know me know that cooking is NOT my strong suit 🙈 but I've had to learn a thing or two now that I spend so much of my day dangerously close to the fridge and in need of healthy things to snack on 🙌🏻 〰️ This month I set myself a challenge to not eat any sweets or cakes (the month of Easter... I know... why?!) and having these energy balls to snack on has been lifesaving 🍡 〰️ Just blended dates, cashews, coconut oil and a sprinkling of crushed pistachios 😍 they're so good! 〰️ What do you snack on at your desk??
I feel so grateful to be able to work from home whenever I want: I get to integrate work with life, meaning I can send emails while I put on a load of laundry 🙌🏻 〰️ This can feel great for life productivity, but it's not always the best for my job. Working from home is sometimes a recipe for distraction and procrastination, and with so much to do recently, I've found myself venturing out to explore the cafes in my local community 🍵 〰️ There's a lot to be said for getting out of your usual environment, and I know I don't do it enough 👩🏼💻 〰️ Where are you working from today?
