The number one hesitation my brides and grooms tell me they have before booking their wedding photographer is stress around having their photo taken. They are nervous about cheesy, posed photos that don’t represent them. Can you relate? I can talk allll day about how I can help you overcome fear of the 📷... BUT I thought it might be more helpful to hear from one of my past brides. I’ll be honest, when Elissa sent me this video I choked up!! 😭 make sure you watch until the end. Such an powerful reminder of just how important wedding photography is. Download the free guide (link in bio) to discover 6 secrets that are ESSENTIAL for beautiful (non-cheesy) wedding photos.
Grace and Tom has one of those weddings I will never forget.⠀ ⠀ It was an honour to photograph their Queenstown wedding, made even more special because I photographed Grace’s sisters Jess’s wedding, 5 years prior.⠀ ⠀ After enjoying time with their guests after their ceremony, a HELICOPTER picked us up (I still get goosebumps thinking about it). We had the most breathtaking ride over the lake, landing on the top of Cecil Peak. It was almost completely calm at the top of the mountain, and totally silent. I can’t even begin to describe the atmosphere in words. It was magical.⠀ ⠀ Grace and Tom cracked a bottle of Dom Perignon, toasting to becoming husband and wife. I wanted to let Grace and Tom just be in the moment together, to focus on each other and the commitment they have just made. What a PRIVILEGE it was to capture two people madly in love in this incredible environment.⠀ ⠀ What is something you won’t compromise on for your wedding day? A helicopter is always a good idea!⠀ ⠀
My little mini-me. 💕 I have 3 sisters, and I’m the (some might say bossy...) eldest. I see so much of myself in Ava, it’s quite frightening!⠀ ⠀ I dreamed of having a daughter, and even though our similar personalities mean we clash sometimes...she’s my mini-me and I just love and cherish our girly time together. Especially unicorn nail art 🦄.
Having your photograph taken is a vulnerable thing to do! If your photographer doesn’t put you at ease, you’ll end up with awkward images that don’t represent you - or worse, the whole atmosphere of the day can be dictated by a photographers bad vibes and energy!⠀ ⠀ You need to book a photographer that will seamlessly slot into your day, and fit in with your guests. Get this right and you’ll receive photographs that truly capture the SPIRIT of your wedding.⠀ ⠀ An excerpt from my guide “6 secrets to ensure natural, unposed, beautiful wedding photos.” Link in bio to download! This guide will help you replace anxiety with excitement for having your wedding photos taken. x

HAPPY NEW YEAR! ⠀ ⠀ 2018 was a year of transformation for me. From losing over 6kg, launching my business again for the 3rd time in a new city, looking after 2 kids, launching a fortnightly girls group in our home, making sweet new friends, getting out of my comfort zone, travelling to new countries, saying goodbye to my podcast, and making decisions to focus on what truly matters.⠀ ⠀ Relationships. Family. To have a career that allows me to serve and bless others.⠀ ⠀ So incredibly grateful. 2019, I’m ready. ⠀ ⠀
It’s that magical time between Christmas and New Year’s Day, where weekdays blur into weekends and no one knows what day it is.⠀ ⠀ I love this time of year. For me, it’s a time for reflection, serious relaxation, spending time with family, limited screen time, and contemplation of goals for the year ahead.⠀ ⠀ I hope the last few days of your 2018 are filled with happiness, love and sunshine. Tell me in emojis how you’ll be spending them. Here’s mine: ☀️😴👙🌊🥥🥂🍫⛱👨👩👧👦 📚
TRUE STORY: Ava, our 3 year old did not want to cooperate for this photo. But! The light was just perfect! We were on the most beautiful beach! So... we may have said something along the lines of... “smile darling, or we’ll have to dip you in the ocean.” 🙈 Slightly brutal, but it worked. 😃⠀ ⠀ I have so much respect for family and kids photographers! PS: I have a question for you, and I’d love your opinion. Take my poll on my stories x
“Kate made everyone feel so comfortable on the day, she was a real calming influence whilst making sure we stayed to our timelines. With her thoughtful details leading up to the wedding and afterwards, she really made us feel special, and made Will and I remember to enjoy the process.”⠀ ⠀ 😭 I love, love love this work I believe I was created and put on this earth to do. If I can make a positive difference to my couples in a deeper way than just photos, I consider that a huge success. #katerobinsonweddings
According to @vogueaustralia it’s officially engagement season...! 💍 🎁 Anyone else excited?!
As a photographer, I think it’s so important for me to regularly put myself in my clients shoes, so I actually know what it feels like to be photographed.⠀ ⠀ Here’s 3 things I’ve learned from my experience on the other side of the lens:⠀ ⠀ 1. TRUST. When you are photographed, you are vulnerable. It’s important to trust your photographer, so you’ll be able to relax and know they will capture beautiful shots.⠀ ⠀ 2. DIRECTION. So many people say to me they don’t want to “pose”, and they want natural photographs. But trust me, with no guidance from your photographer you won’t know where to put your hands! With direction, there is no confusion and it definitely helps you relax.⠀ ⠀ 3. ENCOURAGEMENT. One of my favourite parts of being a photographer. You get to tell people that they are beautiful. As well as being a confidence boost, it’s an experience you rarely get elsewhere. It makes the shoot so much more enjoyable.⠀ ⠀ Not going to lie, it takes a little bit of convincing to get my man to take photos with me, but he’s usually more willing if I say it’s for research purposes!⠀ ⠀ Let me know if you think it’s important for photographers to get on the other side from time to time! 📷 @nataliefranke ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Having a big camera pointed at you on your wedding day can be intimidating. You ideally don’t want to worry about the photography at all, so here’s a tip that’ll help you relax and look your best on one of the most important days of your life.⠀ ⠀ Only smile when you genuinely feel like it. Yes, it’s your wedding day and you’ll mostly feel like smiling alllll day - but remember it’s not your job to be.⠀ ⠀ I’ll take a genuine smile over a forced one any day. One of the best compliments I’ve received from my brides is when they’ve said they hardly noticed me. I love being able to blend in to capture all those candid natural moments, and don’t worry I won’t ever ask you to say “cheese.” 😁⠀ ⠀ Swipe for more from this collab shoot with some of Brisbane’s most talented in the wedding world.⠀ ⠀ Venue @theboundaryhotel⠀ Stylists and shoot directors @theotherbridesmaid and @whitewhiteweddings⠀ Flowers @garden.graffiti ⠀ Cutlery, crockery and napery @supperclubco⠀ Glassware @tableforlouis⠀ Stationary @lauraelizabethdesign⠀ Hair @kathyhhair⠀ Make up @dyancopeman_makeup⠀ Gowns @georgewucouture⠀ Model @miss.ella.binney ⠀ @viviensmodelmgmt⠀
