According to JK Rowling, 7 is the most powerfully-magical number. Today marks seven years(!) of marriage. It's not been perfect, but magical? That sounds about right. ⚡️ Happy anniversary, darling! You are, and always will be, my favorite. What better (or more magical) way to start off year eight than with a flight to London? I promise to never stop adventuring with you!
This guy scared the living daylights out of us all today. I woke up to a flurry of texts from my mom saying that Dad had been taken to the ER at 2am for severe abdominal pain. After a whirlwind morning at the hospital, it looks like he's hopefully going to be ok, but he'll need surgery next week to have his gallbladder removed. But of course, he's taking selfies with lab techs and making everyone else laugh in the mean time! My dad is one of my BEST friends (and my running partner!), and he's always the one who takes care of everyone else when they're sick, so seeing him in a hospital bed was incredibly sobering. I'm so, so glad it doesn't look to be anything more serious, but still- any prayers would be appreciated, friends! Also, if your dad’s nearby, go give him a hug, ok?
Does anyone else ever sing that old N*Sync song on Fridays? It's Friday night and I just...just...just...just..JUST!!!!...got paid No? Just me? Cool... cool cool cool.
Hey photographers- ever dreamed of shooting destination portraits in Paris? One of the MOST frequently asked questions I get from photographers is how can I get portfolio-worthy work in [fill in the blank with your dream location]? But here's the hang-up: coordinating a shoot at a location far from you can be intimidating and difficult, not to mention expensive. Finding vendors, models, choosing a location (when you can't see it for yourself beforehand)? All of that can be a huge barrier to entry, meaning you never get those photographs your portfolio is desperately craving. Photographs, I might add, that help you book FUTURE destination work with clients who are EXCITED about your prior experience! So, we're making it super easy for you. You all know by now that @thesignatureatelier, our France workshop for photographers, is happening again! But for everyone who reserves their seat by Monday, 1/8, you'll ALSO receive a spot in the Bridal Portrait Portfolio Shoot that we added on after the workshop, taking place at an iconic location in the heart of Paris! For all the details, head to the link in profile- you'll be able to find more information on all three (3!) styled shoots we've got planned, as well as our full schedule and class line-up for July's workshop. You're going to want to hurry- seats are already running out! #thesignatureatelier #thesignatureatelierround2
Because, really. Who DOESN’T love flower girls with Dutch crown braids and baby's breath halos? Schmucks, that’s who. Shot with my favorite fun film camera, the #yashicamat124
TODAY is the day- after an unbelievably magical destination workshop in Versailles last summer, @katherinebignon and I are doing it again! Seats for @thesignatureatelier opened this morning at 9am (and are already going fast!), and we can’t WAIT to see the 2018 class of attendees! Last summer saw homemade French dinners, heartfelt late-night conversation, in-depth education, and so much more. This year, we've taken all of that and kicked it up a notch- our intimate group will be staying at @chateaubouthonvilliers (!!!), our sessions are going even deeper, and we've added in a bridal styled shoot in Paris for even MORE portfolio-boosting material! And on a personal note, I'm thrilled that my husband (and business partner) Matt will be joining us this time around- he's an invaluable member of our business, and I'm so excited for the wisdom he brings to the table! We would absolutely love to have you join us- check out the link in profile to learn more, and use that same link to reserve your seat when you're ready! Questions? Hit me up! I'd love to answer! #thesignatureatelier #thesignatureatelierround2
Do you know what I love most about the French? How they linger over meals. Dinners aren't hurried, force-it-down-as-fast-as-you-can affairs. They take their time, enjoying multiple courses, never feeling rushed. And I love that cheese is served after dinner- seriously, God bless the French! We finally got to have my birthday dinner at @lediplomatedc this weekend (after having a fever on my actual birthday), and it was nearly as wonderful as some of my favorite meals had in France. Vin chaud (hot mulled wine), bouillabaise, a cheese plate after our main course, it was the best possible way to end out 2017! I hope we can bring at bit of that into 2018- lingering, savoring, being more present at the dinner table. Happy (almost) New Year, mes amis!
