#QMed #Summer experience from 2020 Sean Tom: Sean recently met with Nobel Laureate Dr. Robert Lefkowitz to discuss his research at the University of Oxford. Sean hopes to uncover insight into microRNA and receptor biology regulating cardiac fibrosis in human atrial fibrillation. From a fascinating history of discoveries to the knowledge from working alongside world renowned research peers, Oxford has inspired Sean to continue exploring scientific questions and investigating what we do not yet know. Sean's summer research is supported by Queen's and The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. @queensuniversity @oxford_uni #queensuhealth #heartandstrokefoundation #queensu #meded Our QMed Summer series features students who participated in awesome and unique experiences over the summer. #QMed #Summer experience from 2019 Natasha Goumeniouk: This summer, I participated in a month-long ICU exchange in Lausanne, Switzerland through the CFMS. I spent weekdays in the hospital, becoming more comfortable for clerkship, and weekends hiking and exploring the beautiful mountains. The placement was entirely in French, which was challenging at first, but my Swiss team was incredibly supportive and made the 12 hour days worth it! The best part was definitely making new friends from everywhere from Toronto to Taiwan, as well as days like this one where we hiked up 6 hours to see the Matterhorn (known for being the Toblerone mountain!). I already miss all the chocolate and fondue, but the experience made me even more excited to start in KGH in the fall. #queensuhealth #queensu #meded Our QMed Summer series features students who participated in awesome and unique experiences over the summer.
