picking my jaw off the floor after hearing my episode of @mycreativeempire is in the top 10 most-downloaded of all time! what in the whole dang world! 😧 seeing my red head up there with women I crazy admire — like @katieoselvidge, @ashlynscarter, @rhiannonbosse, and @emilyley — is the most humbling thing. due to extreme secondhand embarrassment I’ve listened to my episode exactly once. I heard my Michigan accent for the first time and cringed and started sweating all over again, but hey — there must be some value packed in between all those nasally A sounds, right? • in my episode I talk about my transition from working a 9-5 to launching my own company; the workshop I attended that changed everything (looking at you, @mollyjacques); how I booked my first clients without having a portfolio; how to create work you WANT to be creating (and get clients to hire you for it); and lots of gushing about my extraordinary clients. plus me holding up photos, forgetting that this was a podcast you listen to with your ears. 😐 • you can listen to my ep and check out the other amazing top 9 episodes by visiting @mycreativeempire or clicking the link in my profile! thanks so so much again for having me on the Creative Empire Podcast, @reinaandcompany and @christinascalera! and thank you for pushing me past my public speaking comfort zone and not letting me reschedule when I really, really wanted to. love u. photo by @andreapescephoto . . . #paperandhoney #michiganwedding #texaswedding #thatsdarling #darlingmovement #darlingweekend #thehappynow #livethelittlethings #pursuepretty #flashesofdelight #weddingwednesday #gettingmarried #weddinginvitations #fortheloveofletterpress #michigrammers #dailydoseofpaper #letterpresslove
when a test suite is off-center, missing components (a delicate wrap-around twine. oh, and every single insert), assembled around a piece of junk mail, and is STILL a stunner, you paint your left fingernails and document. ✨ #paperandhoneybride Lauren’s invitation suite has some pretty killer design and I’m obsessed with every single piece, but I think this hand illustration of the gates of NOLA’s Jackson Square (where her honey proposed!) is at the top of my crush list.
hi e-friends. I haven’t been here in awhile — half on purpose. half on accident. it’s a weird thing. what do you share on social media when you’ve been absent the better part of a month or two (you’ve lost track)? how do you casually sandwich the cloud you’ve been living in between perfectly styled photos of lattes and flat lays and other happy things that seem so silly when you’re struggling to get out of bed? I mean, hashtag strategies and constant new content are exhausting even on the best days, am I right? (like I doooo nooooot caaaare about a dang hashtag.) • winters have always been hard for me. I struggle with them and I struggle a lot. the past few years have added tools to my arsenal — my happy light, eating well, vitamin D, meditation, journaling, hot yoga 3-5 times a week — but when you feel you’re “doing everything right” sometimes it’s even harder to deal. because you should be “fixed.” you should be better. • I recently learned something about myself that rocked my world in a surreal and cosmic way, and I’m still trying to figure it out. (that sounds stupid and mysterious. sorry.) but in the meantime, I’m choosing this reckoning one day at a time. trusting intuition loving myself breathing, moving, sweating recognizing potential keeping my head down seeing that there is grace in the slow and steady remaining mindful letting things go • even posting this feels silly and my self-consciousness creeps in. oh, well. this is my reminder to you, my friend, that your pace is just fine. you’re doing just fine. your resolution, tenacity, power, spirit is well and good and beautiful. self care is not selfish and we could all use more of it. ❤️ • photo thanks to my friend @hmnphotographer of sunny warm studio days. a shot of the imperfect side of the studio — the “this is clearly a garage” side, with open storage and exposed everything — when I’m much more comfortable posting the super cute styled side. but hey, you know. metaphors.
things that are difficult for me: arranging flowers. drawing flowers. pretending corporations don’t run this country and everything isn’t terrible. keeping cut flowers nice and fresh. here’s an anemone! 🌸 #netneutralitymatters #illustrationishard
sometimes a wedding suite feels incomplete without a good map. ✨ invitations have a whole bunch of etiquette rules to follow, but maps can let their hair down. unbutton their pants a little after a good meal. not to mention they’re just lovely — like a little custom art piece in each suite! • excited for these Lake Travis maps that went out last week. one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. on my map bucket list? Sedona — Denver — Traverse City — PARIS. winding roads and rivers and lakes and red rocks and landmarks, please! #paperandhoneybride
