Neighborhood watch. 🌄 I realized I’ve been taking the ranch for granted and have been making an unnecessary production out of heading to other locations for hikes and runs.♥️Tonight, I revisited the route my dad would take everyday and was reminded that the hills behind my house are just as tough as the ones up the road. At the top of one of those hills, at an old teepee ring, we were even treated to the start of another fantastic sunset.❄️That said, tomorrow we head back up high. Because winter is coming...❄️ . . . #thatswy #buffalowyoming #bighornmountains #triplethreeranch
I woke up like this. 💛🧡❤️💙💜💗Having a summer at 9,600ft in the Sheep Mountain Fire Lookout.
Do you, Wyoming. 🌄
I was lucky to catch the last few moments of @kristenhatgisink’s “Consuming Nature, Nature Consuming” @mca_denver featuring a performance in 115 gallons of honey. 🍯🍯🍯 Via MCA: “...With the videos, vitrine, and performances she created for MCA Denver, she explores honey’s cultural significance. The substance represents wealth, nutrition, sexuality and love, health and healing, and sacred love. Its chemical properties make it a natural preservative and as such it can also be associated with death. More recently, it has become a symbol of environmentalism, as the threats to bees’ existence have become better understood. Sink’s use of honey suggests many of these meanings and the contradictions that exist among them.” 🍯 #mcadenver #honey #consumingnaturenatureconsuming
In Colorado for a few days and missing these two puppy dogs, but of course they’re getting a special post for #nationaldogday! 🐶🐶💗💗🐶🐶
It’s always a treat to be invited to @hfbarranch for dinner and apres at the @rockcreekanglers HQ. 💗My historic neighbor plays host to so many memories spent with my dad at an old cabin above the guest ranch and trail rides up and down the surrounding Bighorn Mountains. 💗Tonight, I was reminded of how many people visit the ranch for that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build experiences of their own: fly fishing Rock Creek, riding Cougar Canyon, hiking the Bighorns...💗 I made my way home with a belly full of Bulleit and vanilla ice cream feeling grateful to have so much time in Saddlestring, WY.💗Pro Tip: they have Fresca.
Breakfast club president, Mr. Chunky Monkey. 🐴🥞🥓🍳🐴
Tis the season for pickling! 🥒Last season’s pickles were a bust-mushy and so horrible tasting they couldn’t even be repurposed into relish. This year, I took advice from @foodandwine to salt the cucumbers before brining to remove extra water a la prepping eggplant. 🤞Hopefully these chunks become crunchy, dilly delights. Or at least relish.
In final JC Fair and Rodeo news, big thanks to all who climbed this weekend in support of Johnson County Search and Rescue! 🧗♀️🧗♂️All proceeds will help fund our training, gear and missions throughout the year.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of judging the Johnson County Fair and Rodeo parade, an annual highlight for our little town. 🐴With over 60 entries, everyone from 4-H groups to politicians kicked off the morning by celebrating western heroes and legends with spectacular floats and performances. 🤠Then we danced all day, all night.
Oh, hi. 😍 The county fair makes me think I need more baby critters at the ranch.
Report from @outdoorretailer: Zigs made a new best friend, Winnie🐶 from @marmot, who is also tiny and loves naps. #dogsofor
The OG adventure pup, Ruby. ♥️🐶♥️I was going to take Zigs on a more challenging run/hike and let Ruby rest at home, but when she put her front paws on the running boards looking for a boost into the truck to go with, it broke my heart to leave her back. We changed plans and went to our old standby, the ponds at Bud Love, ensuring no one was left behind.
Pretty accurate picture of what our annual @sheridanwyorodeo experience looks like. ♥️🐮🤠🤷♀️#letsgetwyod
One of the things I love about where I live is the remoteness both physically and digitally. It’s hard to find information about many areas in the Bighorns and asking Google won’t provide much help. ♥️A fourteener in CO can be crossed off by noon, while our highest peaks require a two day approach on a route which isn’t obvious, and a plan to summit that can be even less so. ♥️With that remoteness comes a different set of dangers and a different type of reward. ♥️In my time with Search and Rescue (which hasn’t been long,) I’ve seen how underestimated our backyard can be, even by myself. I hope the recent news from Black Tooth reminds us to check our pack one last time, carry physical maps, monitor weather reports, step with a little more caution, and to continue our journey beyond our destination. ♥️
Thrilled to spend the evening at Turned Antiques, a true gem of old and new treasures for home and garden overseen by acclaimed artist, and local visionary, Neljte. 🐮🐮🐮
