My favorite dress of the season...and possibly ever. Every single button was totally worth it. The silvery-gold beaded leaves were the perfect fall/winter detail, especially with a giant oak tree as the backdrop for Claire and Dave’s ceremony. Still can’t get over the beauty and love and fun that was this weekend!
For people who say they’ll never be this fancy again, y’all do it damn well. And to not care about the details, they were all absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better end to my 2017 wedding season than with @cwoest and Dave, surrounded by their families and friends (who happen to be some of my family and friends, too 😉) in the ol’ home state of NC. Not to mention my second shooter @courtneypotterstudio was MY wedding photographer and the woman who encouraged me, coached me and helped get my business up and running. (Y’all, we’re a power couple. Just sayin’.) Gah, can’t get over this day. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!
“With your heart my soul is bound...” the Avett Brothers albums were playing through my head throughout this November wedding day, and it was anything but blue. I just sent Lauren 22 shots straight from my camera because I was too excited and couldn’t possibly pick just a few. The love between these two is palpable, as was the celebratory love lavished upon them by family and friends from near and far. Days like today make these nutso travel weekends 1003829950200% worth it. I ADORE Y’ALL SO MUCH!!
Every chance I get to photograph my couples surrounded by nature, I take it. It inspires me, it calms them, it makes us all feel grounded and rooted and it reminds us that we're just blips on the map of the universe. How lucky we are to take part in something so much larger than ourselves, to experience life through these incredible moments that make us feel whole and small in the most comforting way. This little tree-lined driveway is one of those blips on the map of Berry College, just outside the bustling metropolis of Atlanta. And this wedding day moment between Kirstyn and Eli is just a dot on the adventure of their lives as they enter into marriage--something far greater, far bigger than ourselves. And thank goodness for it.
dat Rembrandt light doh. Also you have to swipe ➡️ because STUNNA in black and white. Kirstyn and Eli could not be more wonderful and kind. Y’all are two of the best humans and I adore you. Thank you for inviting me to document your wedding day and for being such troopers amidst the crazy weather, my unusually intense clumsiness and for having a camera up in yo biz all day. Love y’all and your people mucho mucho.
SURPRISE! After a couple months of anticipation, I finally got to surprise my girlies on their senior homecoming night. And I’m so proud, so happy and so NOT surprised that my dear and precious @mollylangella was crowned homecoming queen. Even having covered quite a few homecomings for yearbook and then newspapers, I totally forgot about that last-minute, subtle shift of the (tipped-off) photographer’s lens to the soon-to-be-crowned until I saw it happen right in front of me. And I was still so excited!!! I loved getting to see all my favorite people, soak in all the Whitefield love, embrace all the hugs and squeals and FaceTime parties, and ultimately be brought to my knees in God’s goodness over our time in Atlanta. This. Because never did I ever want to move here. But kicking and screaming, I came. And I’m so glad I did.
I had the best time romping around the city with Chelsea and Eldon on this gorgeous afternoon. You two are just darling and tons of fun, silliness and the sweetest giggles (lookin’ at you, @chelseamataaa). PUMPED for your wedding day, y’all! When you come away from shoots with tons of images and loads of keepers, it’s v. v. difficult to choose one to share. Thomas said this was “very you—Wes Anderson-y.” And just like that, we’ve got the one.
The mountains are on point, the trees are vibrantly clothed in their fall robes, these mountain towns look like scenes from Hocus Pocus and I still think Colorado is the most beautiful place and I'm lucky to live here. NATURE ROCKS. FALL IS MY FAVORITE. OCTOBER IS THE BEST. #winning
Real, palpable, rapturous, joyful love. That's what these two have. I couldn't possibly pick just one to share from @darcienich and Slay's mountain engagement session today. Y'ALL. Thank you so much for playing today, for gallivanting and shivering and just being the best. ILYSM.
Drove to the country, made some new friends. Nature is both bright and moody, so I can be that too, right? In all seriousness, @hwalkerrr and fam, thanks for being so much fun and showcasing all my favorite pieces of home: pines, cotton, rolling hills, horses, down home kindness, family, big trucks, pastures and a good ol' hometown love story. Carolina, you keep callin' me home and it ain't hard to see why. Now back to being a Carolina girl in a Colorado world. 😊Can't wait till your wedding, Tyler and Haley--see y'all soon!!!
It's a travel day and this is a travel photo and it's light and pretty and filled with a Carolina Blue Sky...in Colorado. But I'm headed for those real Carolina skies. And as Eric Church sings, Carolina, you keep callin' me home. 💕✨🐑
WELCOME TO YOUR SOON-TO-BE HOME, Y'ALL! I loved getting to squeeze in this quick session with Caroline and Chaz while they're in town for a hot minute. These two have been going all day (literally since 1 am) and they held out a lil while longer to hang with me in front of another phenomenal Colorado sunset. Five years, two kiddos and almost three cities later and their love is pure and joyful and totally palpable. I love you, Fausels, and I'm SO stoked y'all are moving here. Now please choose Denver 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😁😘😅
Where do I even begin? Jess and Justin detoured to Denver when our childhood friend's wedding was canceled due to Hurricane Irma. Thomas and I absolutely love hosting people, so it was a super sweet treat to have these two in town all week. Each day, they ventured out to some awesome corner of Colorado and this one day I got to meet them on a mountain afterwards for their very own engagement shoot. Jess and I have been friends since we were 12 and I'm pretty sure there's still a long line etched in concrete laid by my grandpa outside my home, Jecca and Ash BFFAATTVE. (Best Friends Forever and Always Till the Very End, in case you're not up to speed on middle school abbrevs. 😂). Jec, it was so fun having y'all around this week. And I'm incredibly thankful that I got to share this time with you, catch up on life (and the dread of reunions 😅😂😜😝) and then the real pleasure of photographing your beautiful, fun, silly, joyful love. ✨💕
Beautiful people in beautiful places celebrating beautiful love makes my job ✨🦄💕💯One of my favorites from Jess and Justin's stunning engagement shoot this evening. Y'all are the best and that was the most fun. Xoxoxo
You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day. Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way, was the Allman Brothers lyric that floated through my head all day Saturday on Thomas' birthday. I say this every year on your birthday, but I sure am thankful for you, my co-adventurer, my teammate. This is my favorite guy and our favorite dog doing one of our favorite things in one of our favorite places. We rose at 4am to hike up to this looming beauty in the dark--Syd on the leash, headlamps on our head, a fox scampering across the trail, the evening sky radiant with a majestic starscape. When we reached the top, there was no one else there. Just us and all the land before us. It's not often that you get a summit sunrise all to yourselves. But I sorta feel like my whole life's adventure is like this summit sunrise with Thomas. Here's to celebrating you, T, and all of life's summit sunrises that are just ours.
