I drew a 12 circuit labyrinth like the one in the floor of Chartres Cathedral. During Middle Ages when it became too dangerous to travel to the Holy Land, labyrinths became a substitute pilgrimage, allowing penitents to meditate on the Passion of Our Lord, and the winding way full of sufferings and setbacks on the path to the Heavenly Jerusalem. I went through a really dark time around this season during my last year of high school. This is my message of hope to young people out there right now from someone who's been there and who cares. Your life is so valuable and beautiful; hang in there and keep it going. I was inspired by the work of @mikuseattle who put "be the light" stickers all over Seattle, to try to bring some light to others in my own way. I hand lettered and drew these designs, then scanned them and reversed the values. These are my homemade vinyl stickers. The uv/water resistant coating came out kind of blotchy, but I've been giving them away free to people I know in person. I can't figure out or manage a good manufacturing or distribution system, so I've made them available as stickers on Redbubble, and will use any profit to continue to distribute free ones in person. I put up a piece of guerilla art to help people make it through the pandemic. It's small, but maybe a pedestrian will see it and it will kindle a little bit of hope. I've been alarmed by the suicide rate over the last year, and this is my way of showing that someone out there cares about everyone that walks by. I drew and hand-lettered it in black ink, but inverted the values digitally, then laminated the print so it could survive the Seattle rain.
