Added some new picture books to my collection. My love for NYC is apparent in the first 3 books. 😍
Working on the distributive property of multiplication. Using candy makes it a whole lot more fun!
Today Math was challenging and a few kids are learning how to work through frustration. We did a digital break out where the kids had to solve a series of bar graph problems in a set amount of time. Proud of kids like this guy for pushing through and figuring it out. Not everyone broke out but there sure was a lot learned. I use the quiz feature on Google Forms for my digital break outs. The bar graphs here are from @stepintosecondgrade Magic of Math.
Making inferences concrete with an easy mini classroom transformation. Just warming up for #rockyourschool this Thursday!
Our first (small) book raffle books have the same color scheme. The kids were pumped about these new releases! They were already asking the winners if they could be next to read the books.
Made new test shields with file folders and motivational posters. I'd love any ideas for storing them since we have flexible seating. #StartFreshBTS #teacherspayteachers
Days 7-10 of #AugustTeacherChallenge with @thelittleinspirations 7️⃣ To display my standards I paperclipped 2 small pocket charts. I keep the color coded standards on binder rings and change them out as I teach new standards. Skipping day 8 since we don't do calendar time. 9️⃣ I organize most of my chapter books using @lessonswithlaughter color label system. (Such a great system!) The rest are in baskets by series or genre. 🔟 We use anything and everything in Science. This past year we used clay and animal skeleton toys to make fossils!
Skipped a few days of #AugustTeacherChallenge with @thelittleinspirations so I'm catching up! Here's a room tour pic of my favorite part of the classroom-the library. This is how my desk looks after the first teacher day. Some of my favorite social emotional books to teach with are by @mariadismondybooks and Julia Cook.
Day 2 of the #AugustTeacherChallenge is all about first day read alouds. The Energy Bus is a fantastic book to read the first week! It's lengthy so I split it up into two readings. That way I can take time to have conversations with my students about it.
