Adding to my nonfiction collection with some biographies. I already have the Helen Keller one but needed a replacement. For $2.50 each on Amazon I couldn't resist!

These are the Final 4 books in our March Book Madness! #booktournament2017
Today the kids were agents that were on a mission to open up this locked box of treats. They had to complete a series of reading tasks in order to get the multiplication equation that was the code to the combination lock. All agents were successful and were able to enjoy their treats!
This is the result of one of the kids getting a hold of their parent's text message account on Class Dojo. This kiddo was not happy she had to be home while we were busy learning at school. Apparently I haven't done a good job in teaching editing skills.
These last two weeks before the big ELA state test, we're doing some test prep in a fun, engaging way. Today after the kids were given time to complete some passages with questions, they played this race board game. This particular one is from my 3rd unit of Valuable Vocabulary but you can use anything. The kids worked in teams to go over 2 questions at a time. Once they all agreed with their answers they brought it to me to check. If they were right, they rolled the jumbo die and moved spaces. Then they went back to go over the next two questions. If it was wrong they had to discuss and fix it to have one more chance at rolling the die. Test prep doesn't have to be boring!
