Our Work is Personal: This month's Valley Outreach Story: Celebrating 35 years is from, Ted Kozlowski (pictured with his wife, Rachael), Mayor of Stillwater, MN and former Vice-Chair of Valley Outreach board. “The work Valley Outreach does is personal for me. When I was a kid my family needed help from a food shelf. I remember how hard it was for my mom to walk through the front door the first time. Valley Outreach knows that first step is hard and makes sure folks feel welcome whenever they need help. They mean it when they say, ‘All are welcome.’” Mayor Ted Kozlowski joined the Valley Outreach board of directors following a time of significant change. In 2005, our Clothing Closet (previously known as Dawn’s Closet) and the Emergency Fund were new additions to our services. On top of that, we just introduced the name Valley Outreach to reflect this growth. With this expansion of services, we needed to make a move to 1901 Curve Crest. Ted helped see us through the expansion within our current location. “I was on the board in 2011-12 and it has been great to see what Valley Outreach has become – a one-stop-shop to help people when they need it. They help with food, clothing and social services that aren’t always easy to navigate. The way they show up in our community and work together with others to lift people up makes the St. Croix Valley stronger. I often personally refer people to Valley Outreach when they need help because I know they’ll get the support they need.” Sign-up for our newsletter on our website (www.valleyoutreachmn.org) to be the first to get stories like this and more.

Friday Facts: Valley Outreach is always here to help. Last year, we supported more than 3,000 individuals with resources, application assistance, emergency funds and case management. We are so much more than a food shelf and couldn't do all these things without community support. Thank you! #ValleyOutreach #35Years #FridayFacts
